To complete the quest you need a siren heart, fin, and tounge from the potameids in Natimbi. Give the 3 pieces to Lorri Stonesong at the magus camp in Natimbi for the shield. I did this quest as level 55 necro, and got some great experience in the process. The potameids are around the middle of the sea, but I will tell you how I pulled them without a tracker.

Straight across the river from the magus camp at the bottom of the hill is where I pulled the potameids to. There is a large rock along the shorline over that hill you can pull to and use as a reference.

Keep DMF fresh, and head Southwest from the rock. I jammed autotarget until I got some sea mobs targeted. Once targeted, you can levitate at a certain spot right at top of of water and look down to see everything clearly.

Look around and keep autotargeting till you see a potameid. Pull with splurt and stay on top of water. Head back to the rock (NEast) and pull the potameid over the hill to your camp.

Make sure you dont outrun it, as you will move faster above water than it can swim (with sow/jboots). Keep casting a quick spell while running to make sure it is still in range. I used dooming darkness, splurt, ignite blood and aggro/fear kited them with pet.

It took me about a week of off and on hunting but I finally got it. Works great paired with a Z Heart for your health regen needs.

Once you find the general area of the sirens, mark your ingame map so you can return there. The mobs are not static, but with the method above you should be able to find them without a tracker.

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm doing mine now. I've gotten all but the heart so far. Man, these are rare drops. :(

In about 5-6 hours of hunting I've only gotten the fin 2 times and the tongue once. I've been paired with a 62 druid and we can kill them pretty quick but they don't like to give up their body parts.

My advice....just be patient. It is a nice item although moving around underwater is quite a pain and being unable to see much around you is even worse.

Good hunting.
Jos.

Have you tried levitating right at the top of the water and looking down? Slowly move down while looking down and you can get to a point where you can see everything below you without the underwater haze. Its a graphical glitch im sure, but it much easier once you learn this tactic. You can pull to the top of the water and less adds this way.

This is the part I'm having problems with. The water is not clear, so you have to use the haze bug or be in the water to see anything under the water. And if I'm in the water, then I can no longer float atop the water w/o returning to land.

Look around and keep autotargeting till you see a potameid. Pull with splurt and stay on top of water. Head back to the rock (NEast) and pull the potameid over the hill to your camp.

The closest I came to fighting a potameid was targetting. I could find some with F8, but I was never in range no matter which way I ran. I guess they swam away? What am I doing wrong?

If you are on top of the water, it will look like you are swimming, but if levitate is still on then you will move as fast as running.

Ill see if I can dig up some loc's or a map to better explain where these mobs are.

I ran every square inch of the ocean in that zone for three swigs of ye' ole sow potion and no potemaid. Not a single one. A general LOC or encouragement of any kind would be lovely.

Ok. Listen up you dont have to see anything under water . I followed Drekati's post its almost perfect, All I did different was once i had a pot head (Potameid) on auto target (F8) i ran a bit farther on top of the water attempted to cast while above water if cast bar started to move i new they were in range so I dove straight in. once your in the water dont move try to cast usually the first attempt is interupted but if spell bar moves there still in range, start casting again this time it will stick if you have an item with a focus affect this will respond if it does you know you hit your mark. Once you hit get out of the water and head back stoping periodically and casting to make sure they are still following you. I hardly ever got hit when pulling, I pulled faster than the druid we had with us and never saw the pot head until she came out of the water back at camp. we stayed at the rock and ran her around the side of the hill. Slow and fear worked well on her.

I got the shield after camping on and off for a week.

How hard do these things hit for? I can't slow them since they're not undead, so can EoT tank them with Shadowbond?

YES this is GOD zone.

You realy have to jam F8 ( Auto target ) untill you get one targeted. The potameids are a long way out in the ocean. Read Drekati's post again for the location. I found them from his post. Be sure and mark your map after you find the first one. You will need to return here many many times.

You need to fear kite or agro kite these while your pet beats on them, at least thats what I did. I dont remember how hard they hit. They hit hard enough to kill your pet.

yes I am useing an extended range item. I feel its a necessity since we take on much tougher mobs than most tanks so we need time on our hands for that second chance cast incase of a resist. plus you will need it later for the frogs in the plane of Storms. They hit realy hard!
