Why did you choose to be a necromancer outta all other classes? Did you love being evil? Love the fear-knitting? Just love to solo with out someone always stealing your phat lewt? I myself chose it becuase i am evil in RL. I love grotestque things. Being evil is natural for me in games. (thats why i have no friends in RL or in EQ :D ) but anyway just post, don't view it. I hate it when someone posts a topic and then about 100 ppl view it but don't post. ANYWAY, just post (again).

Hmm, diversity, soloability, groupability, evil.... I don't consider myself a mean/evil or malicious person, but one thing I have ALWAYS LOVED about being an iksar necromancer is I could kill ANYTHING I wanted to without having to worry about factions. It's true we're hated everywhere, but imo necros SHOULD be hated everywhere, think I'm wrong...take a REAL good look at our spell lines. Darkness, Blood boil(has to be evil), fear (never been scared of something good) chill/ignite bones (casting a nuke to burn or freeze off someone's skin can't really be misinterpreted as something kind or nice) poisons, heart flutter line, magic lines, lifetaps, summon dead warriors to fight for us.... Evil characters let me enjoy a freedom in EQ that other alignments and even anyother race would not of let me enjoy...so it was always which iksar class do I want to play...not which class. The necromancer was just the only one I wanted...ever.

I've not started playing again yet (played back in 99-00), but I know my main is going to be a Necro. I picked a Necro because I know that sometimes I'll not have time to group. So a good solo class was important to me. I love the idea of having a friend I can summon anytime (Bone-chips willing).

Sincerely,
Pyro

a bunch of my guildies back in the day decided to level up some classes that the guild was in need of, I.E. Clerics, Mages and Necros. I was the only one to pick Necro's cause frankly i hated the idea of being a cleric and if I were going to be a pet class, Necros are way Coller than Mages. Basically levelled the necro exclusively and just brought my ranger to the higher raids. Necro grew on me like a fungus and I've barely picked up my ranger at all except maybe as a tracker bot for named in obscure zones and to let a guildie borrow my Tolan's Bracer.

Honestly, after trying every class/race combo at least once (since EQ came out in March '99) I ended up having to choose a solo class 'cause none of my friends picked up the game.

After lvlng my gnome necro to 24, other priorities took over my RL and I left EQ for the past two years. Now I'm back and very glad I found this board to help me play a little smarter. Thanks all for the great input and feedback!

It's been said all over by now, but necros are among the most versatile and enduring (in terms of survivability) classes in the game--it's great to have so much power at your fingertips!

And as for being evil, I guess I'm soft around the edges because I picked the "least evil" race I could and would like to think my character is more "misunderstood" than outright dark and devious.

I play a necro because they are evil as well. I am not an evil/mean person in life (but hey, most evil people don't realise they are evil until they are told so! LOL JK!). Every single game i play i follow the evil and cruel path. I loved MM7 for that! When i selected dark path and became a lich i just drooled! I even had my other chars die and get raised in the dark vampire city to become zombies :P

Add to that the fact that we can go almost anywhere by ourselves, get a lot of things alone and for me the most important thing is being able to play and quit at anytime i want. Beeing in a different time zone doens't help. Usually when the servers are getting crowded and groups are forming, i'm already on my third dream.....

The choice of iksar was obvious, the worship death, they are hated, evil and have a tail. I also usually go for the most powerful race/class combination, even if it takes me a little longer to achieve higher end game/levels.

Also My Best friend who got me into the Game is a Human Wizard. I Made Shadow to be his Arch Nemesis. Everyone needs a Nemesis He's Mine.

Why necro?

To be honest, Woogi is only my third highest level character. I play him alot now, because my playtime makes soloing best for me. The characters I've played most include:

1. Woodelf Ranger -- Lots of cool abilities (still miss tracking) and good up to the mid 30's, but got tired of him around 40.

2. Iksar Monk -- I loved this character up until 50, when the full effects of the monk nerf started to be felt. Can't do much outside a group right now, and I normally don't play enough to spend the time trying to find one. Still fun when I know I'll have a group.

3. Human Necro -- Now that I'm in my 40s with Woogi, I can see how much more powerful he is (can be) than my other main characters have been. Was able to solo geos in CC at 39; not an option with a monk or a ranger at anything close to that level.

I really like the fact that non-necros really don't know what we can do, but they recognise us a solo gods. I even surprise myself with things I've soloed or total wipes that I've survived.

I've only been playing EQ for roughly 10 months now...I've always been some sort of warrior in the old pen and paper games. So when I started I rolled a Barb Warrior and played him to 43, where he still is atm. I had a RL friend that was in a established guild and I got help with armor etc...but being a meatshield, although fun at times, didn't do it completely for me.

I tried a cleric--deleted it at lvl 5
tried a chanter--deleted at 12

went back to the warrior for a while all while reading all I could about casters. I decided to make a DE Necro and give it a shot. Now I'm at level 29 ready to ding 30 and love the class. regret not starting one from the begining now.
I don't really choose a race/class for evil or good...but the evil side of me loves being a Nec...

Well, it actually took me a few tries to admit I really wanted to be a necro... My bf introduced me to the game, and as he is probably the top necro on the server, I really didn't want to be seen as his shadow, so I delayed admitting that was the class that suited me. But after trying out several other classes to about level 10 it was pretty obvious there was nothing else for me after only a few days.

I love the versatility.. I can solo, I can add mad damage in a group, I've even acted as group healer and crowd control when it was necessary, I can do undead, I can dot but I also have some respectable nukes. I never have to sit around waiting for KEI, and I usually go exclusively self-buffed. When I look for a group or a duo partner, it never concerns me what classes show up, cuz I'll be okay no matter what.

I don't think of myself as evil, but as it turns out, I have no patience for people who bother me or trouble me with irrlevant issues, so maybe I am. I have no sympathy for neuts and goodies, and I don't feel the least bit guilty taking a camp from them (Sullon Zek), and if a greenie is in my path, I will cast a quick funeral pyre on them as a friendly hello. So as it turns out, it was the right team choice :)

I also enjoy the necro cockiness. I have wandered into places I have no business being in time and again, secure knowing I can either HS or FD if necessary, and if worst comes to worst, I can summon and rez myself too. Invis bridge scare you other classes? Afraid to wander deep into a dungeon? Must have a guide to explore a new zone? Not me!!!!!!

I choose a necro because I always loved being an evil char, thats all I pick in games, like most people I'm not evil in real life but just love the evil chars ;)

I loved being able to hunt and accually level at a decent rate by myself, although it does get lonely sometimes... I always have the necrotalk channel and guild chat. Another cool thing about being a necro is when I accually start LFG its so easy to get a group because necros have such great DPS

I can't imagine about being a class without a pet anymore, my pet is part of my character now. Necromancers get tons of unique abilities that most classes don't get either, such as feign death, summon corpse, snare, and rez all in one package.
I also have to agree with Jeb about being able to kill whatever i want without worrying about faction, that rocks

I always wanted to be a necro, and now that I'm leveling one up, I've never been happier~

It was hard for me to decide what class I wanted to be when I picked up this game 3 years ago. First I started a cleric but I was always fighting instead of healing. Then I made a barb warrior, got him to 13 and liked the power that came with him, but it was hard to level so I stopped for a while. Luclin soon came out and the beastlord was my second weapon of choice. Got the beastlord to 12. Boom, back on my barb. I liked the barb, learned many things, and got to 32. Boredom soon struck me. Back to the beastlord. I got the beastlord to 33 and was somewhat unimpressed with his power. I had always struggled with money and equipment so I wished to make a money maker. The iksar shadowknight was my new character to play. Got him to 14 and I relized, the attack power was not worth the spells a necromancer could give me. So on with the necronmancer. As soon as I hit level 9 I knew this would be a very powerful class to play in this game, maybe the best class. I leveled my necro to 51 and started leveling off and on with my necromancer and beastlord. That brings me to where I am today. Level 61 quite powerful necromancer and level 46 extremely fun to play beastlord. Then I went into the babble of guilds and raids and the game got extremely complicated. So as for today I enjoy leveling my beastlord and somtimes my necromancer and just kicking back and forgeting all about such complicated things as raid items and guilds, for that is why we play this game is it not? Well, I guess the whole thing I am trying to say is necromancers are a very good choice class to pick. They can easily solo, have good dps, and they are a great addition to any wise group. Necromancers are also quite good at making the moohlah! Plus no faction hits are quite a good thing. And you can tell begging noobs to F*ck off and have an excuse for being rude. =)
That is why I enjoy my character.
peace.

I needed something that would let me suddenly AFK without warning. This fit the bill perfectly.

Since then, it's grown on me. I like it.

Well it took me awhile to figure out which char i wanted to play when i started. an i started back just before velious came out on my friends account. he had me start with a warrior yea... til i lost my corpse with his gear on it. lol so the next one i tried was a bard. his main was a bard an i figured eh why not... so i didnt lose my corpse but it was kinda boring. i decided i wanted to play a pet class. necro pet class with a corpse locating spell. lol thats why i started it. and ive loved it since day 1 :)

I went through several character types, finding none to my liking.

Cleric - Level 46, decided they were too slow, boring, depenant on others, and too good, never able to kill anything and always having to remember about faction.

Rogue (DE) - Pretty cool, got her to lvl 40, but I didnt like not having spells.

Then I tried wizard, mage, and chanter, finding none to my liking. I played them all to very low levels, under 10.

Though I may not be far along in my necromatic life, I feel I have been one since time began. I feel I have a good deal of insight into the class, and have two feet on the ground, for now the Necromancer is all I play, and will continue to do so until I am level 65, with gear as uber as Jeb's...I might play forever to match that, then so be it.

Thats when I found the way of the Necromancer. Finding spells that unleash damage over a period of time, making the victim decay and feel growing amounts of pain and suffering. The ability to use a nuke of sorts that replenishes our body which we then use to fuel our mind through our very special line of clarity spells that injure our bodies to regain mana, doing this all behind the protection of our pet.

The pet and the Necromancer are one, they are intertwined, for one cannot live without the other. They are symbiotic.

Thats why I chose to become a necro, the sheer power. The versatility in gameplay is incredible, whether we are soloing or grouping, we are equally effective.

I chose the necro class for a couple reasons.

1) Evil....

2) You get to watch your prey die slowly..

When I first started playing way back when, I made a woodelf ranger (like everyone else back in 99) and played for awhile, then a friend convinced me to make a cleric since they're more in demand and would make it easy for me to get into a good guild. After alternating between cleric and ranger and a few sabbaticals, I got burned out on the cleric and realized that my play times were too short and random to group regularly. Started a bard and necro at roughly the same time since those two offered the most flexibility and soloability. Realized that the bard would soon give me carpal tunnel syndrome (as if I wasn't going to end up with it anyways) and found the necro to be so liberating that I kept with him. Still have my cleric - 61, epiced, to show up on raids and convince the guild I'm still around, and the ranger - 50, hardly ever played anymore. Necro is now 42 and making a break for it.

An interesting question.. Why a necro..

Ive always been a goody two shoes cleric, keeping everyone alive while the enemy slowly dies... Then I got to thinking, what about me doing some major damage myself?

Well, I researched the casters and tried a mage... Zuthor... Dumped him out at 13.. Tried an Enchanter... Zelerion... Dumped him at 16... Looked into the Necros and saw what the potential was... made Zanikenth. Had to leave him for 4-6 months at a time when he was level 12... Took me about 3 years to come back to him seriously, but now that I am, I see what the Necromancer is capable of, and I basically dont even touch my cleric... Sold all his oldschool then "uber" gear (All you people whove played a cleric know what im taling about) And was surprised at the amount it went for.. Total under 1k, and I bought it all for around 10k... Oh well, equppied the Nec, kept money for spells and now hes doing pretty damn good. I keep the cleric only if I need to give a rez or something, but even thats rare now... Oh well...

To sum it up, theres so many reasons why I like the Necro...

1) Practically UNLIMITED power (Yes even with SoE nerfs...)

2) Total Disregard for Faction (Yeah, Im a Gnome, but hey.. I hunted Halv for 3 Levels =D )

3) Awesome pets to summon to do your bidding (Mage toys... I love them...)

4) Incredible Soloing ability and grouping ability

5) Being able to stand above the foe Ive conqured while half my group has died or run away...(Dumb tanks and Ebay-bought clerics are common, arent they...)

Cos I have to be good in RL!

Being a Necro appeals to my sense of humour, Mort can take pleasure in the things that everyone else thinks are gross or terrifying. I also love the idea of feeding off my prey and becoming stronger because of it. The Arch Lich/Saryns Kiss combo is what being a Necro is all about.

I group a lot with my necro and having an evil party member often leads to some hilarious banter... as you can tell, I don't take my roleplaying too seriously :)

I've always loved playing a necro, I mean hell, it's the only class I've been able to get past the 30s and not get EQ ADD and make another character for some random reason.. and I would love to play him with my other friend, but he's on another server and I don't really have the RL money to transfer him.. so it's hard to play him sometimes, but I still get in the LDoN or PoP group when I can :)

So I love my necro, he can do anything.. and in groups, I can be as lazy or as active as I want :D

Wow, I guess my story is kinda different...Never could make up my mind what I like to play. I have a Shammy, a rogue, a pally, a warrior, a mage, a bst, a cleric, a druid, a ranger, a chanter, and of course the top 2, a Bard and a necro. I started out playing a mage, mage is gone now, Then started playing a cleric, I liked it and learned alot about the game, cleric was DE so I knew about kos. But that was back when there was no newbie armor, and the area by DE city sucked, but I didn't know any better.....enter in ranger, I liked my ranger, but everyone thought playing a ranger meant you could tank.....so I kinda decided to go with a druid, but too many and hung that up, Thats when I started a bard, all my friends said, you'll hate the bard, all that twisting, but I like it alot, but I need breaks from playing it full time. So what else to do, I started a shammy, then a rogue, then a chanter to take breaks with...finally I started a necro, I always like the spell casters but could never find a good combo, Woot ikky necro, could take a couple of hits, FD, and I could survive the low levels and enjoy the game. But as with anything thats evil it became addicting, so much so, my bard is lvl 56 and my necro now close behind at 54. Unforturely, the guild I was in recently broke up, and most don't want necros, but lots of guilds like bards....so I've pick up my bard again, not sure I can break my addiction to my evil ikky necro.....And in reality I feel I play a much better necro than bard, and have alot more fun at it, thought I must admit I do miss selo's when playing the necro. :P

That is the craziest thing I've ever read. My guild treasures me and would probably cry if I ever left or stopped playing. Can't tell ya how many times I saved they're asses from a 3 hour CR, lol! Not to mention how I always get put in the Cleric Group to Mind Wrack and they love My DPS. Gotta hurry up and get /pet hold That's been a problem as of late. Almost there though.

I should clarify, most of the guilds I want in want my bard more than my necro....there are guilds willing to take me, but question is do I want to go there? I'm not a fast lvler, I like to take my time, enjoy the game. But most guilds have like a lvl 55 to 60 lvl limits these days, and most would prefer me to play the bard to the necro, I like the bard but right now I prefer my necro. guess there are just not that many bards around.

i can heal myself

i can rez myself

i never have to ask for a buff (there are nice ones... but none are "essential" in the way other classes see hp or mana buffs)

i can solo

i can group and fill a variety of roles:
puller
mezzer (marginally outside of undead)
healer (also marginally, but a heal is a heal)
mana battery (a blessing and a curse... but great if you typically group with guildies who appreciate you for it)
and of course DPS

fast wipe recovery ~ you get one of those pulls where you just know your group is wiped... send in pet and FD... a few minutes later get up, rez cleric and feed him mana so he can rez the rest

i enjoy my rogue and bard too, but i think necros will always be my "main"

I first wanted to become a necromancer after seeing a 65 DE necro massacring guards in felwithe when I was passing through to buy some low level spells.

I always did hate those constipated pompous high elves. I wanted to punish those elves too, so i decided to check out some necromancer forums and guides. My main was a 25 warrior at the time so I was still new to the game and didnt really know much about necros.

After reading guides about the necromancer class I found that they could do everything that I had wanted to do in the game. I could snare, root, dot for nice damage, nuke, have the best mana regen in the game (at higher levels), be able to heal myself quickly while doing dmg at the same time, have a nice pet, am able to FD if I mess up, can solo when groups are scarce, and would be able to scare newbies with my lich forms. Also I would be able to farm very well in places like veksar. After reading about this I realized that there is no better class :)

Haven't regretted choosing necro one bit.

Now that I am in a raiding guild its nice to be able to FD when learning new mobs and having the honorable role of rezzing a cleric to get the guild back on its feet.

I love the thrill of victory (for me)

I LOVE the agony of defeat (for them)

And the druids whining (still) about how much ass we kick is just too funny.

My main is a lvl 65 dark elf cleric... I played her to 58 before exploring alts. I made a Pally, which I played to 39. She is stripped and retired. I also made and deleted a lvl4 druid, a lvl 8 chanter, 4 lvl 4 beastlord, a lvl 17 gnomish warrior. Before I landed

I made Tsulle. I like being evil. My cleric is evil... well, for a cleric.

I decided to make a caster. I wanted a gnome because I wanted to be cute...
I leveled her fast with a combination of grouping and soloing. Necros are so versatile. She is my stress free character... I'm in no hurry to lvl her because sometimes I like a group mixed with twinks/alts and mains... makes gaming fun =)

I guess other then my dark elf cleric (I could never play a cleric that wasn't a dark elf.)... necro is the only race that really suits me...

I chose the honorable class of Necromancy for Volstadd, because the concept facsinates me IRL. I do not believe the Necromancer class paints you as an evil character, a threoy I support with my chosen race: Gnomes. Being able to choose Pallidan or Necromancer with the same race lends itself to the thinking that necromancers aren't evil per se, just a part of the natural cycle...Things die. Even the Gods in Norrath are subject to the cruel ravages of time and decay. Our spell lines merely accelerate natural causes of death, i.e. Diesase, Poison, becoming slow and feeble, etc...etc... as for more specific "evil" traits we display, allow me to clear the air:

What about re-animating the corpses of others?
As a gnome, we don't maliciously dig up our friends and neighbors's corpses to use them as friends and protectors...we just figure they are not using the bones, so they won't mind! (remember Ak'Anon is filled with lifeless creations, constructed from spare parts)

How about some spells which just seem mean?
For the other spells of ours (notably Ignite Bones line, Fear line) they are only available to us at higher levels, (when we have accelerated our knowledge of Death, the outcome of Life) and they turn our foes into a skeleton to represent this end stage of Life, as for Fear? Well, we all are afraid of something right? and Fear isn't evil...it's an emotion (always thought Fear line should be for chanters)

What about those times you wander through towns of Good Alignment, killing and pillaging townsfolk and vendors, even though you don't get any experience for it?
Ummmm, no comment <_<

So in conclusion, Necromancy isn't Evil, it merely represents the manifestaion of the least desirable and enjoyed part of life: Death. As a Necromancer, it is our duty
to cull the herd of the weak so that the cycle of Birth->Life->Death continues... If you want to talk EVIL, what about clerics? They are so afraid of death that they strive to avoid it at all costs, and in doing so focus their abilities so tightly that they will never know the freedom to roam Norrath without the dependence on others...

And what kind of GOOD life is that ;)

lol, reading some of these posts kinda made me chuckle.. not at you all, but was thinking to myself..

"what if"

a normal everyday person was reading these boards not knowing a thing about EQ or necros...

They would think that we're all a buncha fucking psychos :D
Doncha just love it?
hehe ~ Myz
Sorry for the late responce but LMFAO! OMFG that would be funny. Like some RL necro is like, "I really love these fourms," /smile then he drinks some blood and passes out. And then he finds out that this is an EQ board and another EQ legend is born. Yeah that sounded funnier in my head than on the bords. you win again, whisky.....

Number one reason for choosing a Necro....Ability to Survive *SOLO* ! I started on EQ in 1999 as a Cleric, figuring this would be the BEST way to go for continued progress as I would Always find a group. WRONG ! A while down that road I learned the only reason anyone ever wanted a Cleric was for a Rez , and when a Cleric died you waited and waited for a Rez of yer own. Tried a Druid next ...for the travel ability , did not fair much better. Finally quit game in disgusr for 2 years and tried that "other" game...you know the one. Got tired of the problems there too after a while.
I returned to EQ a few months ago in hopes that all the new expansions would make it better. Well , so much for hope LOL.I Finally made 2 right choices , made a Mage and a Necro. I wanted a character that would have a Pet , Gate, and be able to solo if there were no groups up on my lil level. Even though I liked the Mage with the FOUR Pet choices I found soon enough that I Really preferred the Necro as long as the Pet had "mage toys" to use.
I really get asked to group More often as a Necro than any other class in my experience. Of course since I am only mid-twenties level I normally turn down the offers since I can solo what most groups are hunting and be Much more efficient doing it on my own. Though I must say that going with One partner (enchanter) was by far the easiest experience I have had so far.
All in all ,even though I group infrequently, I have had a decent enough time in EQ this time around . Hopefully someday get into a decent Guild so I may have some help getting to those places I have NO experience in (Planes ,etc). I DO miss the Chat and BS that you get when Guilded or grouped but sometimes when I can only play a short while or just wanna be alone...this Necromancer has provided me with the answer to my gaming .
Cleric...Bah! I spit on thee from Deaths doorway.
Druid ..HAH! I have PoK books ,etc...KEEP yer lousy ports !

I have only been playing a few months. EQ came with my puter as a trial it set unplayed for about a year one day i was bord and decided to see what it was about.
I never expected to play any longer than the 1 month trial.

I made a Human cleric without even looking at a creation guide. I made several mistakes in alocating points but She has served me well lvl 43 now. but the thing I hate is setting on my Arse medding standing cast Ch med some more repeat.
someone dies "Bad Cleric" (not to bad mouth Clerics) sometimes not there fault.
But I allway took it personaly when a member of my group died.

Most of my EQ buddies have left the game so a solo cleric IMO is as good as Dead
I found a new guild and love it. but I still felt like I was dependant on getting in a group And stressing about others HP's

So in short about a month ago I made Houseosin What a hoot wish I had made him from the start only lvl 17 now in PC. but I rember PC with my Clr what a stress
now I just go set up camp on my own no Camp check No Lfg unless I want one.
I think I was made to be a Necro LOL and it fits in with the devil music I love.
Example here as a couple of my favorite quotes form a couple of songs
The first one Toons see when the inspect me.

When You feel safe
When You feel Warm
Thats When I rise
Thats when I ceawl
Riding on mist
Hardly A sound
Spreading the Kiss
Evils abound

Dead I am the dog Hound Of Hell You cry Devil On your Back I can never Die.

PS. I do Feel that a Clr is one of the best ways to learn group dynamics and rolls.
And our Guild leader Is a awsome Clr If i could play Ceeb half as good as she Plays hers I would have never considered another toon.

My first mistake, err character was a druid. Then I made a cleric and played to 61, out of guild necessity.

I always have been drawn to the Necromancer though. I just love the spells, the way the spells work, the evil aspect, I love it.

I love being able to solo, and being so versatile when I am in a group situation.

Why did I make a Necromancer:

1 ) Im tired of dyeing

2 ) FD is the win

3 ) None of my friends play a Necromancer

4 ) More DPS than my 65 Rogue (my main)

5 ) Mana is my friend

6 ) Soloing is also my friend

7) FD is the win

I have been playing for a few years now, I play mostly with a close knit group of friends. We make a set of characters to level togehter, level them to 65, and start over. I have, using this method of playing, leveled a 65 druid, Rogue (my main), BL and Cleric. I wanted something different, and in this current set we decided to play classes we have never played, Hence, Grabbem, My first necro. With my main I am in a raiding guild that parses every named fight, and more often than not a Necromancers beat us Rogues in the DPS department. I want to be the KING of DPS again!!

As an extra added bonus, these boards rock, Great info here. Not just a bunch of flaming bitches.

Thank You!

Well the other night I found out why I played a necro. 60cle says hey want a ldon in Ef. Hororr spell flashes in my mind and so I say sure. Didn't ask lvls classes nothing bad plan). So I arrive get in grp takes about 20 mins for evey caster to find kei and come back. They get there start on in a mission go to zone in and get rdy to zone.

Zone in and think hey should have checked what I have to work with / ack lvl 57-64 wtf. Calm down think its fine well be ok we get about 5 in 20 mins on a 26 collect . We are practically crawling, shm doesnt understand I can slow undead, the rog keeps waking the ones I mezz so I am getting frustrated. Next pull, two skele and pool so I mezz both skele rog hits one. So I say fine throw a slow down and start tanking. finish mine off first pet and I work on next one while they finish theirs. Next pull a cast pyre and go pull my own mob. So I end up tanking about as many as they kill and we win.

Now I begin to think about what has just transpired and realize this is why I wanted a necro and why I will always play him. So I can make every grp I am in feel small and ill equiped to even play. So there is my long story about why nec are the sex. Yes other classes are good just the people behind the comps most the time are trying to graduate the 3rd grade at age 12.

Well I have only been playing EQ for about three and a half months, but in that time I have lvld my main up to 45(ranger), and a slew of other toons up into the 20's.

I love my ranger, but I do not like being dependent on others for groups, as none of my RL friends play eq, and most of the people in my rangers guild are on at odd times.

It just made since to make a necro for the soloing abilities, plus being evil does not hurt. }:)

Am I evil, Yes I am. As an Iksar necromancer, much like Jeb said, no mob (anything that I thinkI can kill) is closed to me...consequently, I have leveled off your everyday mobs, and Gnomes, Halflings, Wood Elves (love the Sister's), Humans, Dwarves, Barbarians, etc....

I have no idea why I really started to play a Necromancer. Most people have been playing this game a lot longer than I have so a Necro was like their second or third toon. For me, Everquest became an annoying topic of conversation at work every single day. Not to mention the fact that my roomate at the time would never stop playing it or talking about it. Have you ever talked about EQ around people who don't play. Well I am sure they found it annoying as hell like I did.

One week my hard disk had a very ear popping head crash, the kind that sounds like nails screeching across a chalk board. Then the next day the power supply caught on fire, yes on FIRE, and pretty much destroyed my antiquated scrounged for parts computer. So I built a cheap little new box with no intentions to ever play any video games and then while I was walking in the computer store looking for an audio cable for my cdrom drive, I past the game section and saw the EQ trilogy for $29.99. Figured that I might as well try it out to see what the hell everyone was talking about especially my ever babbling roomy.

Brought it home and installed it, forgetting completely about the audio cable. My roomy was there and almost shat himself at the notion that I would ever play a GAME on my box, let alone EQ. To tell you the truth, he was the one who picked Necro, because he said that I was anti-social by nature. Well, push came to shove and within a few weeks I was level 25 and running around in some "Twink Gear" that he gave me. I became obcessed with getting as much experience in one day as I possibly could toward the next level and one more level closer to my next line of spells.

After weeks of this it was inevitable that I would be invited into a few groups, and I made a few friends along the way. But I mostly stuck to myself. Now that I look back on my long experience grind as a Necro, I think I wouldn't have it any other way. That's my stupid reason for playing a Necro.

Cheers,
Quez
