New research, old components

Do the old recipes still work at all? I tried to make Levant yesterday and noticed that the recipes are mostly gone from my Warlock's Book of Binding and the old combine did not work. Do I need a different book, different ingredients or what? Any help would be appreciated.

essentially the answer to your question.
You now need the generic spell research kit from Gunthak gnomes to do any research combines and you'll need the new drops too instead of words/runes etc

I suggest just browsing around EQTC forums and see how far the new stuff is being discovered.
