Any walk throughs or advice anyone has on tasks that can be kited for Orux? Friend told me about the Hide and Seek task (knowledge is power, or somthing along those lines) and i am going to try that tonight. Any others? Dang Orux is just too expensive to buy, 400pp on average on FV, so any advice is helpful.

Easy as pie once you get it down. When I started out, it was ~70 orum reward, then of course, word spread, and it got farmed down to 25, but I imagine now with SoF it's probably back up a bit.

Can get it done in under an hour solo, so just grab 5 others and offer them half the orux for doing nothing at all.

Does Orum go back up anymore? I thought they nerfed it so that the kitable missions will always be 25. If that's the case no sense in doing the Shisaar mission unles it's just for the fun of doing it. Fate of the Combine is a much easier one and the same orum/faction. That is if what I mentioned above is correct.

Fate of the Combine is the one I like. I can do it fairly quick and with minimal danger. If you get a chanter to do it with you, it goes even faster because with Tash, your root will last MUCH longer, not to mention the chanter casting his/her dots as well. Last time I did it, it was back up to 50 or so, and I can only imagine that since SoF released, its got to be going for higher. I've heard nothing even remotely hinting at Sony nerfing it in the way Torv is mentioning.

I would recommend Gorillas in the Garden over any others for pure orum return for time invested. You will get very little exp as you're not really killing anything except wanderers and adds, but with a starting reward of 150 orux, and scaling down to I think 75, you can make a TON of orux very quickly with this one.

If you have a decent guild, you should be able to convince several folks to join your group to get the task and have them stay in the task. At the end, everyone will get 150 orux, and you can negotiate with them before hand on how much you'd expect from that reward.

If you do a 50/50 split, then for a full group, you're getting 150+75+75+75+75+75=525 orux per mission at the 150 reward rate.

Keep in mind that the most expensive item at vendors is 700 orux (robe).

Once you get the hang of this mission and figure out the best spots to pull to and prod the apes, you can do this mission in probably 1hr 30min or less, making it a little under 6 orux per minute.

With others like FotC, where reward tops out at 50 orux, even with a full group doing the 50/50 split, you're talking 175 orux return for maybe 45 minutes. My main problem with Fate is that it never seems to rise above 25 orux on my server for reward, whereas gorillas is seldom tapped.

How are you figuring 150 orux a mission, Enceph? Base reward for any TBS mission per toon is 50 (at least the group ones I've done), with it scaling up or down 25 orux from there depending on how often it is done on the server. Unless there has been some extremely radical retooling that I have not heard about. And I don't really like Gorillas specifically cause of what you mention about not getting much in the way of xp, though it is usually good for 60-70 orux cause it's one of those that isn't done that often. Another plus of Fate is that you can really burn thru it once you get the hang of it too. I can do it in about 45 min.

Ok some confusion apparently so here is how it works: all mishs are 50 Orum base, there is "anti-creator code" so that in a given time-frame (no1 has done enough testing to be accurate of the specific time but most are of the concensus it is automatic so if you zone it will update for you on the client end) coding checks all the server's mishs to compare how much each one has been done and adjusts each one appropriately -- the more one is done the less it is worth and the reverse is true, the minimum any mish can be "farmed" down to is 25 (there was talk of changing that for certain mishs months ago but has not and probably will not happen)

When I preview the reward, it offers me 150 orux. I did the mission several times thereafter and it never went below 125 orux. I'm not sure what it 'bottoms out' at, but it starts out much higher than Fate of the Combines, likely to compensate for the fact that you don't get much exp.

150 orux seems a bit high for a 50 orux base. I suppose it is possible, but I doubt it. I think there are 'exp missions' and 'non-exp missions', with two different rules for the orux reward.

This is some great information - and I thank you. Any others? I took a break for about a year, and i two box a shaman, so i was looking for a way to get some Orux without paying for it, great way to gear up, and get some nice spells.

I don't think it's that complex. Gorillas in the Garden was 150 orux on my server at one time (went down to 137 last time I did it). That's pretty much a non-exp mission, sure. However, Stone Tongue of Ateleka was also 150 orux for a while and you get about as much exp from that one as you do from some of the other quickie missions.

Previewing reqard is always a good idea before deciding which mish to do :)

The same can be said for FotC and several other mishs (one doable much faster for zero XP's if you don't get a single KS) FotC you kill 10 XP mobs, a named 4 times for 800k+ total dmg. for no XP and mish completes so that isn't an "XP mish".

Look at several different group mishs pop-up selection boxes and check the color the mish is in, it's a stoplight with 3 colors (Red, Yellow, Green). I'll give you a hint about the stoplight: Red=Overfarmed and Yellow doesn't = Baseline Orum, Green = Not done on server much and has a high bonus.

Ohh Enceph,

During a server reset last month when I was doing missions for guildies 2 Missions I liked to do for the ease of them were both at 50 after the reset. (neither of them the gorillas mish and both kiteable ones)

After 2 mishs of the 1 it was at 30 something so I went to the other and it was up to 125 (under 2 hours later, and not 3 hours after server reset) so I punked that one and it was up to 140 something next time I grabbed it -- surprised was I? Nope, I know which ones peeps like to farm on my server as have done them to much for people. Went and grabbed a Wiz bud who was lfg'ing, for rest of night and pounded it into oblivion.

The most expensive vendor item is 1,000 Orux also.

Anyways, tired of over explaining -- the more, or less, a mish is done in relation to all other mishs on your server the less, or more, it will be worth. Proven fact for a long time now.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=122500 That should be a link to a discussion on the vet boards about a month or so ago on orum missions. I will have to get some missions done and see what they give out on Xegony, hopefully what was talked about in that thread was some kind of bug or something that had been fixed recently.

Is the 1,000 orux item on the raid vendors? Again I show my non-raider bias, sorry.

As to server resets, we have at least 1 crash nightly on FV server. Orux rewards don't change because of it. There is something else involved (at least on our server).

Fate of the Combines will never be worth 150, and to my knowledge, Gorillas in the Garden will never be worth only 25.

So, to say that the orux rewards are the same across all group missions isn't accurate. I still think there are two categories of group missions. Why else would there be such a disparity between the rewards? Why wouldn't Fate give the same as Gorillas?

its on the augment vendor. raid purity augs are 1000 orux and non-raid are 900 (iirc)

Aye FV is screwy, might be only normal server reboots? Can say there was 1 server crash where I checked, or rather was told as some people wanted me to go grind them thinking that due to the crash the missions would reset values as they normally do and they looked up the values, and they didn't change -- so crashes most likely do not affect the missions resetting back to base value. But only have that one crash to go off of, actual patch days etc. have had bunches of times have personally seen missions reset back to 50.

On your server Fotc and GitG are allocated at such values due to how many of each are done in relation overall, so again the server makes them worth what they are.

I bolded part of the quote above..re-read what is after that bolded part and then go re-read posts above. If you still can't understand I can't help you, don't know how else to explain it myself to make it clearer to you.

Yes group vendors, Energian vendor, 900 would be highest for non raid.

900 for the Purity aug for group slot, 1k for purity aug for raid slot. Which increases purity and therefore increase what ya get from a power source for every piece of infusible gear: http://www.eqwiki.net/wiki/Combine_Power_Sources

Torvail, no bug reported their. Just exactly what I have been sayign and the truth of how it is.

Check monkly business forums also. they did EXTENSIVE testing on the missions when it came out, including how much faction per Orum etc. etc.

Also deep searches on eq vet forums will provide many more posts all saying same thing; though with a hella lot of whining and bitchfests but what else is new from SoE forums.

The one time I did Gorillas it was for 70 orum. It took a long time to do so I never bothered with it again. But you're saying the base, per person reward for it now is 150? Damn. If that's so, I may have to go give it another try. Just for the faction alone it would be worth it, but the orum too would be sweet. I gotta get my cleric caught up to my other toons so I can start farming armor in SoF for my mains (my guild has been slow to get the new expansion).

I took a look at Gitg on FV - and it is currently for 103, i took a stab at it - and had the method figured and the 1st and 2nd level gardens down, when server crashed, and i was not able to get in for over 1/2 an hour and went to bed. I will try it again tonight i think.

Winchester, to save yourself some time doing that one, keep two things in mind:
1. The gorillas don't seem to regenerate at all.
2. The gorillas repop very quickly when killed or captured.

With the exception of the Matriarch, there's a spot on each level where you can get to a gorilla without having to be bothered with the bug trash. Since the repop is so fast, staying in one spot to get em isn't so painful. Or you can just lay dots on the gorillas wherever and thumb your nose at the bugs while you FD. By the time aggro's cleared from the trash, the gorillas should be low enough for a prod.

I found the spots for the 1st and 2nd garden, however - i could not find a "Safe" spot on the 3rd garden, best i could do was having to kill one roamer, then using the now freed up area kill the gorillas. Then had to clear and additional 3 bugs or so - to be able to get at the Mommy Gorilla safley. I figure there is a safe spot on the 3rd garden, but after watching all the gorillas, i could not find it.

I did solo this task tonight btw, it did take me 3 hours or so, and a few more deaths, but with practice i am sure it will be quicker. I am going to try the great invasion next i think.

One note, when i did this task, the reward was at 83 Orux, when i went back to get it again, it had dropped down to 60ish. And that was with just one person doing the task just once.

Are there any Orux reward Tasks that can be done with one person? Or will I have to find two+ volunteers to fill out the Task requirements?

Orux are only awarded from quests obtained by a group of 3 or more.

Just get guildmates to join your group, get the task, and let them drop the group. As long as they stay in task, you get your reward.

Not only that, but if they don't need the orux, you basically get a triple reward for the quest.

I have done the Fate of Combine solo about 10 times. I enjoy this one, gives you exp for killing the mobs, and I have looted a some decent items to sell in the bazaar of trash mobs, Defiant BP's.
