View Full Version : FD & snare bug
There's this anonying bug related to FD and dots that last longer than 2 minutes it takes aggro to clear.
It's really easy to duplicate and happens often.
You split pull with snare and few secs after snare landes FD. Now after 2 minunutes aggro clears BUT if your org snare (or any dot i persume) is still on any mob you're put back on it's aggro list next tick.
Problem is after that point aggro NEVER clears if you don't stand up and re-fd then wait 2 minutes again.
It can result in pretty painfull situations where you have whole room of mobs on aggro on you, you're at 10% hp and they just won't forget you.
I noticed this start to happen with SoF release.

I've had this happen a few times..but whenever i stand..i'm off agro and don't have to fd again. /shrug.

I've had similar happen as well, except that I get a new aggro cool-down timer for OOC regen after every tick of the DoT.

I had that problem regularly in Atiiki. Some times even repeatedly FDing wouldn't reset agro, but zoning out did. Eventually, I just cleared agro by kitting multiples and killing them. This problem pre-dates SoF

mamael's assessment is correct, the problem predates SoF.

Aye this happens to me too, I usually just flip to a pron site for an extra couple minutes though =)

I find that if you wait until after snare wears off before you stand, you won't have to re-FD. I didn't notice that before and used to scream "LIAR!" at the screen when I got the "your enemies have forgotten about you" message. Hazards of having an extended duration item.

I hate it when this happens, caused 4 adds on me last night, had to stay FD for like 5 minutes.
It was weird though, cause I snared the mob, got an add because of a spawn. FD'd the add off, killed the mob I originally snared, and after he died, I had 4 wereorcs coming at me, and had to stay FD for 5 minutes to clear aggro from them.

I thought the same at first that I had to redo FD and wait 2 min again, but I have been noticing the same as Jeb as long as I waited for snare to fade before I got up. OOC Timer would have crossed swords, but the instant I stood up it went to tick down mode.\
If I didn't wait for snare to fade then obviously next tick I reagro'd while I was standing.

I have been in this situation multiple times. I always wait until snare wears off before I stand. Sometimes I am not on the aggro list, sometimes I am.
When I stand and have aggro, sometimes I can re-FD and immediately stand without aggro.
Most of the time when I stand I am on aggro list and have to re-FD and wait another 2 mins.

Sometimes it goes away if I wait for snare to rot off most like 80-90% of the time I still have crossed swords and re fd for an extra two minutes. But hell sometimes FD is buggy about 1% of the time I can get up immeadiately if I have no dot on the mob and they will have been mem blurred to the fact that I just tried to snare their asses.
My best suggestion at this point and the one I use more now that I have FD 2 as an option is stay up as long as you possibly can run run run run run then FD that way snare will fade before the 2 mins most of the time. Of course this isnt feasable in all areas and waiting 4 minutes to get back is always better then dying.

There's this anonying bug related to FD and dots that last longer than 2 minutes it takes aggro to clear.
If a dot lasts longer than 2 mins then "Enemies have forgotten you" is meaningless as next dot tick you now have agg again.
If you wait for your dots to wear then when you stand 1 of 2 situations occur:
1) The mob has a static spawn point. In this case if it is at spawn point and you get up you should not have agg and your swords will now be an hourglass (wait a sec or 2 after last dot wears befor standing or be prepared to get agg)
2) The mob is a wanderer and therefore doesn't reset agg, ala a spawn point, then you get up and you got agg again, so get up and re-fd. (which could be done halfway through etc. when you know you have less than 2 mins left on whatever you need to fade)
Don't forget for things like snare, searing, disease line, i.e. anything that you think is going to outlast your FD...take the item that is your dot extension foci OFF while you are FD'ed and voila!! Now your snare etc. will wear before the "Enemies have forgotten you" message.
Hope that explains things and I don't have to pull out the "learn how to play" crapola.....cause this sure is NOT a bug but how the game works -- i.e. "working as intended"

Intresting I hadnt thought about taking my dot extender foci.
However what I think most of us are describing is your FD get enemies forget you message, you realize your dot is still on it so stay FD and unless you get back up and re FD they will never forget you, you will always have the swords and not the hourglass.
I think we have all figured out it is there and how to work around it though.

detrimental extention focus is used when you cast the spell, like a pet focus. taking it off after the spell has already been cast will have no effect.

Now it does right that, next tick after you had "enemys have forgotten you" msg your aggro status changes back to crossed swords while you are STILL FD. And when that happened i had myself remain on aggro for 5+ minutes or untill i succored if i didn't stood up and re-FD'd.
It's not an old thing, neither is it something that used to allways happen. I have detrimental extension since years you bet i would have noticed it.

Not true. Have personal pulled up a timer and timed it as well as tested it numerous times so can't claim it is the "randomness" pof foci and me getting "lucky" that my foci always pulls up on the low end.
Cast TSS snare with Demi foci and FD. 2 mins later enemies have forgotten me and snare still running.
Cast TSS snare with Demi foci wait 2 ticks and FD. Take off foci boots, 1:48 later snare wears off, 2 mins after FD enemies have forgotten me and am with hourglass and voila can stand without agg.
SO agree with you Pharren, the irony of your post is quite funny.

Ty Meph, didn't acquire any real dot extension till after TSS so didn't notice until then. For me was always that way, maybe ooc regen changed how that worked.

do you actually play a necro? where do you come up with this shit? did you ever notice that the focus effect only gives you a message when you cast the spell, like spell haste, mana preservation, beneficial extention? if you cast a buff with a beneficial extention item on, and then remove the item, does the duration of the buff change? common sense would tell you that the same thing applies to detrimental extention / detrimental spells, but common sense seems to be a trait you are lacking. either you are lying about timing your snare, or you actually did try to time it, and failed miserably.
i parsed last night using coruscating darkness rk. II and my TSS detrimental extention focus (35%) on the rooted efreetis in the "the great invasion" mission, 5 times without the focus, 5 times with the focus, and 5 times with the focus on when cast, but removed after two ticks. just like you claim. heres the results. i cut miscellaneous crap like focus messages and aggro messages out to reduce the size of this post.

I have had the exact same experience as Meph did in the same manner. I think the posts trying to counter it just seem to not understand the significance of it. I must say now, that I've not hunted for exp in 1 month, which is about the same time he posted this, so perhaps this has been fixed - if so, then please forgive me for babbling.
I remember it not happening every time, but when splitting non-static mobs, it's annoying when it does, for the other pathing mobs being split from remember when they ought not have any cares after 2 minutes of fd. splitting static mobs are unaffected.

I agree with Larks, distance makes a big difference with dropping the hate after a FD when the dot was still ticking. FD again and get up immedaitely, you should be out of combat and have the hourglass for ooc regen... I then can run up to mob and re-snare it without regaining agro.
Working as intended. FD/Death Peace doesn't need fixing and I don't trust there to not be a nerf if they 'fine tune' it.

I experienced something like what Auree described. I was in Fortress and was trying to pull some mobs out of the "gardens" as well as trying to avoid the roamers. I got one before it warped back. Next thing I know the roamers came out of nowhere and killed me. The original mob's roommates didn't come out to squash me.
