View Full Version : pet haste & shammy haste don't stack
hi, i just dinged 39 last nite & couldn't wait to mem my pets new haste attack buff... but then i found it wouldn't stack with either my shammy's swift like the wind (65%) haste or the focus I put on goner. any idea which buff doesn't stack with the augment death buff for pet?
i'm assuming it would be better to go with the shammy haste & focus regardless, but just curious.

Ok, Now this post raises more questions for me than i possibly have answers.
How do you know? I mean, as an Example. A druid comes by and Tottally buffs up goner, I never see it on my pet buff window. Only mine.
If I cast Augment death on my pet, I see it, as well spirit armor. Nothing else shows.
Before I cast augment death, I see how Goners hitting target; Cast It. Big differance. Goners gone Ballistic, Quadding like a fool.
As I understand it though, Castersrealm.com; Augment death is 65% haste. So therefore your Haste will do no good, 2 castings of same haste will nix the other one, Highest haste wins. But, if they are IDENTICAL. hmmm, I'm lost.
1 Item, 1 spell, 1 bard. Only way haste stacks.
So your question was? Possibly Which of your haste last longer?
I don't know........

Tell chanters and shammies not to cast haste on your pet. Use your own pet hastes. I used to duo with a necro while playing my chanter and he used to get mad when I would haste his pet. :P

I can see other buffs on my pet, as well as when he is dotted. It must have something to do with your UI maybe? I still use the default one, just modified to my veiwing pleasure.

I do use a Custom UI. Often wondered about that. It don't even show when he's afflicted with heat blood or some such foul smelling wretched spell. LOL, All the Spells we are Known for.....Truth Be Known, I finally did Summon a pet named Goner. I thought it was an Omen of bad luck. He kicked ass though, Big Time......
I'll look into my UI though as I like knowing whats going on at all times.
As I understand it though, Castersrealm.com; Augment death is 65% haste.
Casterealms.com desc of aug death - Increase attack speed by 49% (L39) to 55% (L49); Increase str by 39 to 45; Increase AC by 10.
So your question was? Possibly Which of your haste last longer?
I really just wanted to know if it was the STR buff in aug death or the haste buff in aug that doesn't stack with shammy focus or haste. I guess I just wanted to get a clear picture for buffing gonner as I am leveling the necro so he can duo with my shammy... looks like I will only have to worry about slapping shammy buffs on him if aug death series of pet buffs doesn't stack with focus.
BTW I see all of goner's buffs & afflictions when I hit my /pet health hotkey using a combination of default & custom UI windows.
You can also have chanter & shammy haste icons up at the same time but only the higher of the two (chanter) will make any difference. I don't know ahy the second icon shows up & wastes one of your 15 allowed buffs (just click off the lesser of the two).

The shamanic Focus line stacks with all our stuff. Their haste line won't stick if our haste is better, but I believe it will overwrite if it is. Generally not a problem as our pet haste is usually faster than the shamanic haste available at the same level.
I see all my pet buffs when I use a pet window that displays them. My necro skin doesn't show buffs.
If you don't get a "would not take hold" message, it's on your pet. /pet report health will show it.

For my pet i see buffs and dots that are on him. I would always use our haste for the pet. everytime a shamy tries to haste my pet my haste overrides it. Our haste will stack with the Focus line of spells.

Sir, you wound me to the quick! 'Tis just the adjectival (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=shamanic) form of the word.
I could have said "shammy haste" but I'd have had to injure myself afterwards. I am a gnome, sir, not an excerebrose ogre!

That works, too. Sadly, I've spent too much time away from Ak'Anon and tend to use shorter words.

Enchanters overwrite my Augment Death all the time in lost dungeons. Goner's attack speed does increase, but there's no doubt it hits for less. Which buff gives my pet the higher dps? My guess is Augmentation of Death (which I can't afford at the moment) should cause it to do more dps, even though shammy/chanter haste is higher.
Any thoughts? I've considered making an educational hotbutton that goes something like "Healer, do not heal me or my pet unless one of us is obviously dying. Haster, hands off my pet. Mage, my pet likes to be pampered. Anyone, regen spells are always welcome on me. Roleplayer, don't talk to my pet. Like a seeing-eye dog, it is on duty. Thank you."

But Lucky gets lonely...
I've found it works better for me if I send a discreet tell to somebody ("Hi, don't worry about my health bar unless I'm getting beaten on.") rather than broadcast instructions that often just serve to make those people do just what you asked 'em not to.

The shamanistic haste overwrites the lower-level Necromancer hastes because the haste component is better, even though the spell provides no stat bonuses.
Personally, I always stuck with Augment Death/Augmentation/Rune. Sure, the pet swings a little faster with Enchanter haste, but would you rather have quad-25s every 2 seconds, or quad-55s every 2.4?
Unless you can pester the shaman into stickin' a Strength booster on the pet, as well as their Focus spell, I'd tell him the next time he touched my pet, my pet's scythe would go missing, and would likely turn up in a rather unpleasant location.

When I first started my shammy way back when it was basically the opinion of the community that +sta buffs on a pet are worthless.
I have been playing my necro with my shammy since he was level 1 & always just slapped a focus & swift haste (shammy ornate BP clicky) on pet never thinking daiku (+str +dex buff) would add anything to the pets dmg output.
I'm pet tanking mobs in FG atm with some decent HPs & will try to see if gonner does more dmg to mobs with a daiku buff than without, but I don't think he will.
edit...
wow just dinged 49 in FG & had daiku on both pets & there was a definate DPS boost... before i ever tried daiku on pets, non-stop pulls were nps for me... shammy pulls we both send in pets i asystole at about 90% & ignite bones @ 50% & never went under 90m. now with daiku on pets shammy was definately pulling faster as 3 more mobs were added to the cycle i was doing last night & my mana was definately getting a decent dent. so all i can conclude is daiku +str made enuff dif to notice in DPS.
thanx for the tip.

Even a simple Harnessing of Spirit on your pet will give him noticably higher dps. He'll hit for max more often and lifetap like crazy. I always ask for shammy buffs for my pet in xp groups and while I'm soloing if there's a shaman in the zone.
Anyone have Pet Affinity yet and know whether or not bard songs hit your pet?
