Hi,

I'm a newbe here. And I'm level 36 darkelf necro(what else). And I keep having a hard time getting some good plat? Just can't get any big plat. I'm sick of killing goblins in Butcher Block. Any one have any suggestions? let me know. Thanks.

At 36 go to the Echo Caverns just off of Shadowhaven the Boglings drop spears which sell to vendors for 5 to 6 plat and I think the warriors will still be dark blue.

Aside from that Rathe Mountain Hill Giants but with competition so fierce for them it would be better to try elsewhere.

I too recommend RM, but as was said it can be tough to sometimes get a few, but they have anywhere from a few gold to over 30p plus an occasional fine steel. most of the giants that can be found drop decent plat plus items, except the giants in GD/EW they are poor (few gold to 6p with occassional Velium wep)

Off topic to your question but it pertains to something you said... i thought they made the gobo drops in BBM only like 5 silver or something

And as for money the only thing i can say is go for exp... all this time you spend farming greens for money wont do you too much good after you buy a couple things... just go exping, sure you might have to med longer, but once you get into 40s and 50s the pp comes pretty easy and then you can start farming for nicer stuff, sorry for the strange paragraph its 6 AM and i havent slept yet lol

Also sorry to kinda of evade your question but its sooo true

As well as Rathe Mountains, a place with both great exp and cash for your level is West Commons at the Druid Rings. All you have to do is split the spawns of the rangers/druids and you can get like 2-6pp a drop, plus fine steel, jewels and bows which you can sell to the vendor at the other side of the rings. There are more detailed guides over the internet for this, and on these forums I believe

Yah I would definately reccommend druid rings in WC...I lvled there for a couple levels. Awesome plat, probly made 2kpp or so while i was there.

Yeah, I'm not currently playing EQ atm, but I'm getting it back soon, and when I played before it really got me going fast, if you're of a lvl lower than 34 it is still possible to solo these guys, just you will need a higher level toon to set the spawn for you. Also for money and exp around 34-45 or so you can hunt Watchman Halv in Steamfont, easy kill and great exp.

The best way I've found to make plat is to resell items. This is looked down upon by some, but hey, I made 12k in 3 days doing this and got myself a robe of misery.

The main point is to know how much items usually sell for and to realize when you are getting a deal or not. It takes a lot of time in bazaar and a lot of patience in the beginning trying to sell stuff at higher prices, but once you get into the 4k range you'll notice that people are selling 6k-10k items for 4k. I just buy em and /trader overnight. Seemed to have worked out for me =)

Now...
Not all of you have been as lucky as I. I ebayed my beastlord and quit EQ for a whole 2 weeks =P. When I came back a friend of mine layed 28k on me to twink myself out. Well, that 28k has turned into about 30k worth of gear, 2k in bank, and a horse (using this method).

If you want plat, then go to Rathe Mountains, it would be super easy for you at 49 (Don't go to RM for exp). As for Ice Giants, I only made it to 35, so I wouldn't know...

Once you get into your upper 40s, you can also kill the entrance mobs in Dulak for some cash. Gem drops are very random, but aren't too uncommon, over the long run. The experience there is also great. I would recommend duoing with another necro til you get your new pet at 49, then you should be able to solo it without too much trouble. Just be ready for trains as that's by one of the only 2 zone points, and the other requires you to climb a ladder, so it's rarely used to get away from a train.

Once you get into your early 50s, get your seb key (if you don't already have it), and try to get into a group that's camping necro. Sebilis gem drops make Dulak a joke. If you're looking for fast experience, try to get into a group that's on it's way to camp Juggs. Not only is the experience great there, but alot of your mid-50s to lvl 60ish spells also drop, which will save you money.

Forget the giants. Gain a few levels, then go to CC and kill geos. The competition is pretty fierce for the camp, but if you ask whoever has it they will ussually let you know when they are finished with it unless someone else has already asked. The named there drop gems that sell for up to 190 plat and are not really rare just uncommon. I bought a mount and about 20k worth of eq from the loot that I got there. I also gained 10 lvls.

Hiyas all.

Now for pp the golden rule is levs. The higher you are the better the mob drops.

As for farming the same goes, yes gobos not aqua in BB drop heads and blood worth 4pp still ;) but the frost gaints in everfrost peaks are uber loot compared to rathe hill giant drops.

Reason i say this is that per kill forst where out dropping hills i.e. 15pp-30pp hill
39pp frost, and that was the norm for frost giants. There is alot of people as in rathe camping these so you have to have good luck to get one of the spwans and also the odd 65 KS who runs through and kills the giants in 4 hits then buggers off again.

Also bazaar a very if not time consuming way to make good pp.Have made close to 40k and with that you can rebuy items and resell for good profit.

But you have to balance pp making with leving cause being stuck at 34 for weeks on end is'nt fun esp when yuo see others who have gone the xp way have the pp to show for it and are some 10+ levs ahead of yuo with their new and uber 49 pet and buffs which=easy pp farming.

Sorry if that as gone on to much.

Steamfont springwaters.Drop off kobolds.Take the Ak'Anon book. The kobolds are under level 5.The springwaters sell FAST for 25pp in bazaar. And U can get a stack in an hour or two...Check vendors if ya have gnome faction<Innoruuk help you>

Steamfont Spring Water sells for 2p on my server. There are a few people selling, the highest is 5pp. :(

My server has cheap low-end, but expensive high-end. Some of the low end stuff is dirt cheap, but high-end items cost 2-3times more than they do on other servers. It sucks, our economy really sucks. But the people make up for it, so I stay. B)

I dont know what it's like on other servers but Rathe Mnt's on saryrn is over crowded this is all i hear there (/ooc hey you dirty @$^& quit ks'n me)
(/ooc what ever that was my mob i hit it first)
And BLAHH BLAHH BLAAHH, Rm is overcrowed with 12 year old druids and shammys. I avoid Rm like the plague. Ice giants in everforst is a good cash farm also try spiders in crystal caverns there slik sells for about 20-25 plat a peice also in same zone are the geos they drop cash gems....
another good place which was posted on another post is the inner felwith guards they drop swords that sell for (my cha being 1) 14p also drop as much as 10p and as little as 3gp plus gems.... also the ocean of tears on the seafury island this zone can also be a little cramped by upper lvl wizzys who like to quad kite 4 SF at a time but spawn rate is faster than RM here... also the Seafury drop essence of sunlight which i steadly sell for 200p a shot on trader mode

But alas i get bored with farming and as soon as i get and real amount of cash (around 3k) i blow it lol but i never have a hard time if i need to make a k a day to do so

Snowdarc,

I have been using the kobolds in Ak Anon for 2 years or better, dont know for sure but its been over the span of a pre luclin account that i started when kunark came out, i stopped playing about 2 weeks after velious. I just started playing agian a few months ago, dont know for sure when i started back cuz i play alot and lose track of the days weeks and months.......how old am I???

Anyhow i have noticed more and more ppl using kobolds to make money and to PL their twinked newbs. If the kobolds become massivly used it will be way overcrowded until they get nerfed because newbs complaining that 20 high level chars are camping their best way to level up. A necro can level from 4 to 9 and make 40pp just off the silver and copper that is dropped in those 5 levels, there is plenty of cloth armor on them, and everything else that isnt nodrop is stackable and all of it sells good. I made 100 plat in 3 hours from lvl 4 to 8 1/2.

You are the first person i have ever heard of telling ppl that its great pp.
I went thru all this long BS just to say please keep it to your close friends and guys this place rules for necros dont let it get out to all the others.

If you have never tried the kobolds in steamfont mountians go there, spend a few hours and see for yourself, or dont the latter makes me happier as i get it all to myself!!

Sorry So Long, I had to take a break from EQ so i could eat, and im bored to death, been awake to long, BTW i lost 19 pounds in 2 weeks playing EQ no dieting needed cuz i didnt eat at all for 1st week. See EQ can help ppl who need to lose weight or ppl who think the skinnier they are the more beautiful they are(i have seen a girl wearing 00 pants need a belt, that skinny isnt pretty.)

**sigh** well i was gonna kepp this a secreat but hell i gopt nothing better to do if your high enough level go to highkeep and kill guards :-) start at door go around and KILL KILL KILL collect every sword droped and sell it in same zone and put cash in the KOS banker but hell you can still use the banker while she is attacking you you never get over weight and if you have good CHA you can sell swords for 5.3 plat each and i can get over a 1K an hour

there you happy theres an uber way to make some really really fast cash

but it only works if you are only one killing guards so if your on E'ci server leave my camp alone

No one starts off KoS to the Coldain so unless you screwed your faction your good plus CC doesnt go off of Dain faction. You should not be KoS in either place if you have not killed any velious midgets .

I hear people having trouble with rathe mountains, and I admit I used to, but now? It has gotten less crowded since LDoN came out and there are times I can go there and there will only be me and one other person or just me. It is great.. I slaughter the giants these days. Last time I was there I killed every single giant in the mountain area in 6 minutes. I got pictures of all of the carnage. I essentialy make 1kpp in 30 minutes when I am there alone. Since they unerfed the drop rate on them again you can typically get 20pp and up on each giant. The higher the level you get, the faster you kill them.. the more money you make.

Another option might be for you to go to OT and kill the named giant on the seafury island (Gornit). He regularly drops more than 50pp and items. He is the single richest mob that I know of.

Hey, I would have to go with just leveling up to upper 40s low 50s before letting the must earn some plat take over. There are a couple things I did when I was this level(mid 40s low 50s). I did Cobalt Scar until 52. Just killing Wyverns non stop. If you just dooming, fear, pet kite, you can kill non stop for hours. The pathing is/was horrible and the mobs would just run back and forth. At 52 I started soloing Lower Guk( you might be able to do this at 49 now, with the undead slows that came out with Luclin) just get the Frenziad Frog camp. Blood Thirsties, Dars, most Zols, and the Frenzied will all be Dark blue, so you will get decent exp, as well as a chance that Frenzied will Drop a FBSS. Depending on server prices can be ok money ( 2kp on Drinal). Until 58 alot of the same Frogs are still DB at times, and there is also the Lord camp. Lord, Boks, and Guks( PH for Lord) were still Dark Blue at 58. Just use rest the dead to sooth them to split(use this also in Frenzied). Easy camp with 49 pet, and easier with 56+ ones. Once you get that stuff done, and are doing Lord camp, you can add Magus for a chance to get Shiny Metal Robe, another decent money maker, and something relatively easy to get solo at mid 50s. Of course I am sure there are better ways to get some money, but on my server these are very rarely camped so you can just stop in for a few minutes or hours on end.

Well hope that helps some.

You can gain levels and get plat if you do the gnolls at the Splitpaw spires in South Karana.
At 36 they will range anywhere from dark blue to white.
They usually have Fine Steel weapons that sell for 5pp to 6pp not to mention gnoll hide lariats that you can keep for pets which cast stun.

OK
My secret:
Depending on what dyes sell for on your server, Quellious is about 45-50pp per, you can get your skill up high enough in one night. For me it costs 29p4g roughly per combine plus time..........I usually undercut the lowest guy by 4or5 gold. It isn't much lower, but everyone always buys the lowest price. I had a system where I would make 100combines, 92 dyes or so for me, every night before I logged. I would then come back the next day with appox 2K made. That is after I subtract the component cost.
I did this every night for a few weeks and would always be "empty" when I came back the next day.
Depending on your patientce for tradeskillz and your price difference for making/selling, this may be another avenue to look out. Even if it doesn't have anything to do with being a Necro, you doing it to better your necro. Then you are also not waisting your time farming when you can be leveling.

HHK, kill gaurds decent exp til 40-45, Fine Steel Short Sword 4-5pp and the gaurds have a 1-6pp money drop. Also cheap easy place, Butcherblock green goblin camps of 3-5 heads and vials worth 4pp+ super easy spawn times tend to drag if ya just have one encampment.

I have a friend who farms veksar, nadox, nurga, droga places like that for decent/fairly uber twink gear, then in turn sell it to me for half the going rate, and I slap it on trader.. 1) this allows me to go lvl, do my own thing, 2) I dont have to do all the killing of named :) 3) my friend is happy coz they re on dial up and refuse to set up traders only to be LD the next morning w/o the ability to sell.. and we both make decent money which still allows me to be amongst the lowest in baz price wise, for stuff I didnt have to kill for.. however, I too have bought stuff which I knew was way low and slapped it on trader using the baz whore method, hey, if u have the money why not? people dont HAVE to buy it from you, they buy it coz its needed, and wanted, if the price is right, buy it. Probably made over 800k in my time doing this over past few months..

If you're going to go the vendor route, one thing to pay attention to in the buy low sell high plan is time of day. I first noticed this when I was looking to buy a Shadel Bandit Ring - did a bit of price checking and found what I thought was the average price... until by chance I checked with my twink 12 hours later and found a completely different price. This remained consistent for over a week... the price actually varies 1-2k by time of day alone, completely ignoring the people who just under or over price the item to begin with. So don't just buy low, buy low at the low peak of the day, and sell high at the high peak of the day... instead of making 2k on clever buying and resale, you can make 4k.

Still, I get most of my pp from xping in places like Sister Island (spears and belts), RM, Spectre in Feerott(wep), BW(spells, wep, tradeskill items), Droga(gear), etc. It's more fun than comparing prices in the baz all day.

Persephonae

low trivial subcombines for tradeskill items are a steady if not excessive flow of cash... with the Aid Grimel quest there are a lot of people trying to GM tradeskills with limited time and lots of money... and a lot of tradeskill recipes require tons of annoying subcombines...

Celestial Essence
Coldain Velium Temper
Soda Water
Bear and Lion Filets (wolf & mammoth too, but you can't buy those meats from a vendor)
Leather Padding
any of the subcombines for the Misty Thicket Picnics
MQ folded sheets of metal (for LDoN smithing)

I know I've been looking in the bazaar on Quellious for weeks for MQ folded sheets of metal for my smith toon and noone is selling them...

Its not going to get you rich beyond your wildest dreams, but its a nice little stream of additional income.

I havent done much farming with my necro yet, just leveling and using the plat from that. but with my druid (main, but maybe not for long) i am always desparate for cash.

some of you reccomended the ice giants in EF. they are fantastic plat, but it can be hard to get a camp. There are 3 spawns for the giants, all of which are at the permafrost zone line. The giants about lvl 45 (maybe..?) The problems with the giants are thus: there are only 3 of them albeit on a pretty speedy spawn. Because there are only three, they are usually camped, and only 1 giant per camp. my strategy is just to send a tell to each of the people camping giants asking when they will be done. when i do get a camp, i ask the other camps when they will be done, and they will send me a tell instead of advertising to the zone when they are leaving the camp open (decietful, i know, but hey im a necro at heart). also its best to camp them at low population times (early morning, late at night) The giants have about 5k hp. For my druid, if i have all three camps, by the time one is dead and looted, the next one has spawned. this works pretty well, and you can get about 5-40 pp per kill, but it can be pretty boring, especially when you only have one camp.

some of you may of heard of this, but i swear it works, ALWAYS go around behind the mob and loot by clicking on their left foot (as opposed to anywhere else on the corpse). You just plain get more stuff this way.

i dont know that necros have too many marketable buffs / spells, but that is always a good way to make money. all it requires is sitting in pok for a while advertising and you can sell buffs at a steady pace. also boring, but good money while helping your fellow players

its impossible for me to say how fast i make money doing anything, because i blow it all immediately  stupid me

PS persephone, can you detail the celestial essences and how to make them fast and easy? im a brewer, and it sounds like a good way to get a steady cash flow.

What i do is save up everything i have. My highest lvl charater is 32 by the way. So anyway save up everything until you get about 1000pp. Then go to the bazaar and buy stuff that players sell for cheap. Buy that item and raise the price.. It's that simple. I found that it works best with weapons though. Just last night I sold a Red DragonScale Tuinic or whatever for 8000pp and I bought it for 6000pp lol and to think I'm only lvl 27 HAHAHA! it's to bad they nerfed my best way of getting money.... that way is of course.... sheet metal making.....

I am not really sure if anyone every camps here...but I have one of the best places for cash in the game....first of all you are going to need to do some planning.

1. Find a nice mage to summon you 8 of them purty no rent, 100% wr bags and put them on yourself (fewer if you are uber and have bag of tinkerers or some other such wr bags)

2. Try your hardest to find someone that is already keyed for ToFS (Tower of Frozen Shodow). Most likely many of you have never heard of it since it is avoided like the plague unless you are going after twink gear.

3. If you can't find someone that is keyed....go to the tower and get keyed to lvl 5

4. Hunt the wedding party on lvl 5. The golems drop velium, the vamps drop weapons worth 4-6pp per, and the best man and maid of honor drop rings (Velium Wedding ring, and Runed wedding band). Each of these will sell for about 1-2k depeding on server, time of day, and market saturation. It is abit tricky to split the mobs under lvl 55, but as a lvl 60+ char, you can just kill and kill and kill. Fill up your bags and gate out. If you have a second account (second computer) best thing to do is to have a gater with you, just bring them in and out of the floor...then you can stick around and kill away while sending your slave to sell stuffs.

5. If you get bored with that, you can also hunt the named of the other floors. Check alla. if you are interested in the drops.....the bowl that every necro wants pre lvl 45 drops there, dagger that summons bandages, and lots of nice twink gear if you can get the char in there as some is no drop.

Hope this helps out some as this was my favorite hunting ground with my old char before I sold him off.

It helps to know a little about the tradeskills and quests out there so you can figure out what might sell in the bazaar. Even stuff that might seem like vendor trash (i.e cockatrice beaks--they sell for about 1 pp to a vendor, but can be sold to PCs for 20-24pp) might be something a PC would be interested in to buy rather than kill/make themselves.

Another example: we may all be aware that spiderling silks have always been a steady way to make plat. But especially if you go for a low trivial like silk thread, you can separate yourself from the other silk farmers and get away with charging a little bit more. Two spiderling silks = one silk thread. These go for about 10-12pp each on my server, and I've gotten away with selling them for as high as 20pp.

BaelinB

once you are in your 40s you can kill High Elf guards...they drop a 17pp sword every time...some will also have pp and other vendor loot. There are about 10 guards in the city you can kill and they are on a 15 min timer I do believe...

If they are a bit too hard for you bring a druid friend who likes money more than elves and have him buff and heal your pet. He will get no faction his as long as he only helps your pet.
