*If* we do TSS and later spells it is likely to be Tier 2 spells.

Expect DoD and PoR spells with the next expansion.

I guess this would make those that do not have Dread Pyre and Corath Venom rejoice since finding people to do those quests is a pain anymore.

Very cool...I think DoD should have already been researchable really.

I'm on the fence a bit about rank 2's...TBS would obviously be nice to be researchable, but I think the tier system sort of negates the need/desire to be able to research the spells to begin with. I think there's a few 'must have' spells that would be desirable as rank 2's but otherwise I'd just buy rank 1's.

Agree about the TSS spells. The tier system almost makes it a moot point. The rk2 versions are just drops so they could be farmed.

For TBS, I envision the ones requiring orum would warrant the need for being researchable but even then, orum itself is tradeable.

Dread Pyre though is simply unattainable without a commitment from others. And while it's nice to know they plan to make it researchable in the next expansion, that won't do much to help necros today. Because I fully anticipate another level increase in the next expansion and while DP is still supposedly serviceable at 80, I doubt it will be much benefit above that.

As a general rule Rk1 spells are vendor sold, Rk2 spells are mob drops, and Rk3 spells are raid rewards.

In the history of reseach, vendor spells have generally not been researchable, and raid spells (ancients) also have never been researchable. Rank 2 is the only likely choice for future researchable spells. Pretty much status quo on which spells to target with research recipes.

Now, SoF throws a wrench in the works, sure, by having some Rk1 mob drops and all of the Rk2 faction-locked spells. However, it will be quite a long time before SoF reaches the point of researchability anyway.

unless there is some MAJOR change to how they make our spells for the next expansion (ie: not copy & paste upgrades"), i can see myself continuing to use it.

from my log file, from jan 5 to apr 2, almost 7 hours worth of parsed raid events (and a few encounters with a certain halfling exterminator). dread pyre still comes in at #4.

Ditto. And you have current raid foci :p . For those of us using older (DK-TSS in my case) foci I see it as being even more useful as the difference between DP and RP should be less, due to degradation.
