Looking for a vote here:

Should I replace the "Quickest and Easiest" list with the Binding Powders list? Seeing as how the Binding Powders are more readily available and more reasonably found?

As you can see from the above; the "Quickest and Easiest" is basically the same; just not as organized in my opinion.

EQ Traders still lists spell combines in their recommendations...

The binding powders are the obvious choice after 243, but before that it could just depend on what you have and how much you want to spend. I think a combined listing could be useful.

The main thing for finding binding powders is finding a place with lots of caster mobs the level that you want. Using magelo search (http://eq.magelo.com/item/36280) will be helpful in determining the level range (40ish for your modest binding powder) and it can also help see which zones have more caster type mobs that drop it.

From the looks of it, Acrylia Caverns and Mines of Nurga might be good places to get it.

I went to the gypsy camp to get my concordance of research. Started the dialog and after the first two things i had to reply to nothing happens. Can you give me any help on how to get this going.

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure this quest is even functional anymore.

Start your Researching by heading to Crescent Reach and doing Research Freebie: Akila’s Studies (http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=q250&menustr=120059000000). This'll take you to 54 (there are subcombines of smaller values to complete this quest). From there, start with the Binding Powders and Scrolls (listed above). Anymore, Binding Powders are the only way to go (other than when you are actually combining your own spells and hopefully getting skill-ups/trophy evolution along the way).

Yeah, I doubt that quest is active since the other class specific containers aren't used anymore. If I recall correctly, inks, vials of water and other sub-components are a decent way to skill up to at least 115 or so.

Actually, I got a concordance of research just prior to SoD going live, I'd be surprised if it's gone inactive since then. Maybe just snag a greater lightstone and hand it in (fortunately not exactly hard to get) & see what happens.

Practice runes are a mixed bag I feel; some components are very easy to find in bulk (shark skin, drake scale), but others are a pain. (giant fire beetle eyes anyone?)

I's a cheap way to skill up, as well as allowing you to keep any sulfurs and saltpeters for later (harder) skill-ups but it is very time-consuming.

By the way Draz, thanks so much for this. I started out just wanting to make my own spells, but have made an absolute killing these past 2 weeks (300k plus) making spells to order, it's like a license to print money.

I have found Acryila Caverns an exellent place to farm modest, simple, and to a lower extent binding powers. Simple is the most common. I am level 59 and have collected probably 40 binding powers of various types in about 8 hrs farming.
