Hello Test!

I wanted to point you guys in the direction of a new Quest NPC that is in Dragonscale as of today with this patch and ask for feedback and any bug reports you might have running through the tasks on this NPC.

Overview:

Fenden Helter is in the Ladies of the Light tower. Fenden is friendly with all of the major factions in the Secrets of Faydwer areas and has tasks that you can do for all of the various factions. He has 3 types of tasks that you can do. These tasks all have reuse timers on them so that you can only do the tasks every 18 hours. Some tasks are on shared timers, some tasks are on their own 18 hour timers. I'll explain in more detail below.

Combat Faction Tasks. There are 7 combat tasks, one for each faction. Each of them involve killing 10 NPCs for the faction you selected. These are "quests" and are given to a solo player but we expect players to group up or form small groups (2 to 3 players) to complete these tasks although it's possible some players can solo these. We are shooting for about 30 minutes of time per task accounting for time moving and getting set up (we expect you to kill the 10 NPCs in about 10 minutes, on average.) You can do all 7 of these tasks - they each have an 18 hour reuse timer all their own.
Non Combat Faction Tasks. There are also 7 non-combat tasks. By Non-Combat I mean the tasks themselves don't require you to kill anything but you may be sent to an area that you need to carefully move around NPCs, time your use of items carefully, or even be invisible at times. There is one task for each faction in SoF. The non-combat tasks share a timer and only one can be done every 18 hours. We expect each of these tasks to take around 15 minutes per task, on average.

Non Combat Non Faction Tasks. There are 2 final tasks that are not tied to any specific faction. The primary goal creating these two tasks was to make some gameplay that wasn't standard kill/deliver/loot, etc. I hope you have fun playing through these and any feedback on the "fun factor" are appreciate. Both of these tasks can be completed independently and each has a unique 18 hour reuse timer. We expect each of these tasks to take 20 to 25 minutes to complete on average.

Rewards:

There have to be rewards, right? Here they are...

Combat Faction Tasks. The reason I called them "Faction" tasks is that the reward you with faction! Completing each of these tasks will grant you a fairly large chunk of faction. But wait! That's not all! In addition to the faction there will be a small number of currency that you will earn that you can use to purchase items with Fenden (more on that below.)

Non Combat Faction Tasks. Just like the Combat tasks above you'll get faction, exp and currency for completing one of these tasks.
Non Combat Non Faction Tasks. Unlike the 2 sets of tasks above these tasks do not give faction. They give experience and a slightly larger number of points.
But what can you buy with these points? Essentially we've taken a number of Tier 2 SoF items and placed them on a point merchant for you to purchase. If you do all 7 combat tasks and 1 non combat faction task and both non combat fun tasks you will get enough points to purchase an item about once every 10 days. The combat tasks, in total, represent only 20% of the points you can earn in a set, however, so even if you can't do the kill tasks you'll still be able to get an item every 12 or so days of working on these tasks on a daily basis.

I think that pretty much sums up the tasks and how they work. I look forward to reading your comments once you get a chance to play with these things.

One final note: I know lots of people turn spell effects off but there are a couple of these tasks that have some impressive spell particles as flavor so to get the "full experience" turn on your spell particles and watch the show!

lolz

Anywho, this sounds like sex faction-wise. Something tells me the items won't be what I would desire, but I would love this to finish out the faction grind pre-fall.

The items that are available are almost all the loot that drops in Tier 2 zones (FM, Hills of Shade, Bloodmoon Keep, etc). The exceptions are Visible Armour (Glossy Silk), Augs, Evolving Items, and the items with the extra Slot 3 aug slot. The currency is no drop, however most if not all the items are tradeable. For those without a decent pet focus there is a piece that has Spire servant on it. There is also a 20% all resist clicky earring and a +250 mana pool clicky belt, and lots of other focus items. So unless you are a raider there is probably an item or two you wouldn't mind having.

Items cost in the 900s to 1500s I think.

there are 2 acts you can do every 18 hours for 30 of the new currency each + xp (no faction)
there is a number of errands, can only do 1 every 18 hours for 20 of the new currency + Faction + xp
There is a combat task to kill 10 of something for each SoF faction. All theoretically could be done once every 18 hours, but some are more of a pain then it is worth for 3 of the new currency + faction + xp

So if you do the 2 acts (60) + one Errand (20) + 2 combat ( say this because can quickly knock out the kill 10 wind nymphs and kill 10 minotaurs for LoL and Brownie rebels) you would make 86 of the new currency every 18hours or so. So in 12 - 20 days could have your choice of items to have, give to alt (who could be dong the tasks as well if they are 65+), or sell. And since one will probably be doing these tasks for faction anyway.. it is like the items are just a bonus.

Acts and errands don't require combat and all the ones have tried can easily be soloed by a necro.

The combat ones i have tried that are most easily soloed are
LoL - Kill 10 Wind Nymphs (DSH - named do not count)
Brownie Rebellion - Kill 10 Minotaurs (DSH - only ones with minotaur inname count)

Slightly harder because of many more hps
Crusaders of Veeshan - kill 10 golem models (forget which ones specifically in DSH)

Others that are probably much easier with a group.
For Fangbreakers kill 10 wereorcs in Bloodmoon Keep (harder because of the SoS mobs, and the snare they all cast, but still doable if you have a reason to do this)

For Akan'on Strike Force need to kill 10 steamworks in the Giant robot (so need 3 to get instance)

Camp Valor need to kill 10 crypt ghouls or forget-full-name Guardian, all but one ghoul will require a decent amount of clearing or working in tight spaces, with lots of roaming mobs.

Bertox need to kill 10 Rotcap feeders in Hills of Shade (these are all inside those little caves and they snare so are hard to pull out and get single. Not to be confused with the Deathcap feeders that are easy to single out that are roaming around outside.

Hope this helps someone who is interested once it goes live.
