View Full Version : Valorian Sentries in HoH

I've been XPing in the basements of HoH recently, duoing with a druid.
Everything is just dandy until a Valorian Sentry spawns in one of the 6 spots where Guards & Guardians normally spawn.
Since the Sentries are immune to changes in run speed, they sort of put a crimp in aggro kiting... with the druid we can harmony Sentries & keep pulling around them but that cuts into the XP since we've only got 5 (or worse even 4) of the mobs available to kill.
There has to be a way to kill the sentries when they spawn, but darned if I can figure out what it is...
Does anyone have any insight on this they'd like to share?

The sentry's are a big pain in the arse but they can be killed with some tactics, here is what i do to kill them:
1) if your solo. I pull with horror and then run to one of the corner and use a quik casting Dot(think its splurt but its been awhile) you should be able to cast and run out of the way before they hit you. Then I run to the corner alond the pillars weeving in and out of the pillars, The sentry then has to run up and down the pillars so it gives you time to get some distance on them to cast again, usually not too long though so I just used Touch of Mujaki. just keep running back and forth till they are dead. you will prolly be OOM or close to it after killing but you CAN kill it in the basement.
2) with a partner its even easier. I did it with another necro like this: we would both hit it with Horror on the pull, then we would run to oppisite walls and ping pong the mob back and forth by sitting and standing while pets beat it on and we recasted horror. You have to make sure you both cast the same spells for this to work or it will be hard to ping ping it. Or you can just keep dotting till one gets aggro and the other dots till aggro ect ect..

Has anyone considered root rotting them. Less work less mana. Just as dead. With a druid partner its not to hard to have one root when it breaks and use the other as bait.

the Sentries are immune to changes in run speed kinda kills the root rotting, Xav. :(

I just lifetap'em down, running making enough time to cast, cast run again. Pulling with horror is a good idea, SK isn't a bad Idea either for those time when he gets a bit to close /wink. It takes some patience, but fast dots and lifetaps are the way to go, have sow, or rs 3-5 before agro'ing or you're fighting an uphill battle.
