Problems logging on

Hey guys I am having difficulty signing onto EQ. I have spent hours seeking information on this off the EQ Message Boards and various guilds tech links.
My problem is the fact that at the everquest patcher screen it reports " Internet send request timed out. The patch servers may be busy. Please reattempt download "

If I do get the download complete and then click on play it reports " Error 193 unable to execute "
I have tried reinstalling EQ and I think it's worst now because i have to download ALL the patch files for the expansions.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I am using Win XP and a dialup modem to connect with no firewalls except for the XP personal firewall which never posed a problem before

I dont claim to be an expert by any means but, I would check two things first off. First try to drop the firewall for a minute and see if it will connect then. (after you DL all of the files needed by SOE). If you cant connect , try updating your virus files and running a scan on your system. There are alot of nasty worms out there that can play havoc on a system.

The login server fell over. Althought they wont admit it.
