For you lowbies like me, try to get your 50s pets before you need them, Invoke Death, Minion of Shadows, and Servant of Bone. Your prices may vary by server, but on I Vazalle this works well.
Invoke Death: Bite the bullet. Buy the componets, Fine Supply Runic Hides are about 500pp, and you'll spend roughly another 75-100 on merchant components. Pay some one to craft it, or ask your guild/friends. This pet is a powerhouse and from what I can see our last warrior pet till 60+. You need this one badly.
Minion of Shadows: Sells for 1500pp, don't buy it. Look for Defoliation and Thrall of Bones. Look up Necromancer Spells quest in the Overthere for the other two spells if you want, but the two I listed go cheap. I got Thrall on average for 25pp and Defoliation for 75-100pp. I bought 600pp worth of these scrolls, did turn in, and got pet (and Sacrafice and Shadow Compact). Much cheaper this way.
Servant of Bones: Seems unpopular. Easily found for 55pp-100pp. Cheap!
