View Full Version : When to AA now...

Well I returned to game recently and I had made the mistake of dumping some of my accounts.
Anyway as much as I am enjoying my monk I miss the necro. So I added a 3rd box this weekend and have been pleveling with a 74 druid/80 cleric.
Now I'm debating when to stop to at least knock out 300-400 core aa I consider neccesarry. With the changes to aa xp I'm thinking level 65 in pofire will be the right time to knock ot a bunch.
Anybody leveled an alt or got a feel for this yet or at least some thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks.

When I was 65, everyone kept telling me to level up to 75, then AA. I didn't listen much and hacked away my first 120 AAs in Nobles' Causeway. Then I hit 70 and moved over to Icefall...
I have my AAXP set at 90% AA, 10% regular. I get an AA every 3rd kill (still at 74) and am steadily moving up towards 75. I'm at about 440 AAs now and I'm the finite definition of a casual player. I only play for about 30-45 min most days and only 4 or so days a week (RL stuff to include 2 kids that are involved in everything you can imaginee) keeps me away from the game the rest of the time. For the most part, I've gotten to the point where I'm waiting to level to fill in AAs now (although Willful Death still hasn't been touched...).
IMHO, you can't beat 40-46% AAXP per kill at level 74. Icefall at level 70 and up has it.

See the thing is AAXP in Fire used to be 19% at level 65. That was before any of the AA changes. Also overal it was a pretty damn good time to be a necro around that level.
Ahh well I guess I'll wait to see if xp is the same as your seeing in icefall. If it is I'll be sticking it out for at least 200-300aa at 65 since the dots from my 74 druid will have a bigger impact in fire.
Guess we'll see. Either way it seems like a joke these days to knock out the 400 critical aa we need thanks to the xp changes.

I feel like 69.1s could be a really good place to grind out AAs.

I am very retired.. but it seems that with the AA changes any place post 51 that you get fast AA/hour, and that you can get the camp, and it hasn't driven you crazy yet makes sense to do as long as you can stand it.
I was always a fan of instances.. you control your own camp availability. And 69.1 was a great one for me. But that was before the changes and I am not you.
Enjoy.
As soon as snare will stick I say start doing 69.1's which should be not long into the 60's... I would get a round at 60 and zone in and if snare sticks kite away... wicked fun (until it becomes mind-numbingly easy). doing the hards you will have reds until 72-73 when they turn yellow and dark blue.

Hey Felicite. How do you stay away? I lasted about 2 years and this is my second time quitting. I just can't stay away.
There is a lot of truth to what your saying about instanced especially for us boxers.
I may look at 69.1 maybe even do it on normal from 65-70. Hit 70 and then aa.
I'm just not sure it will be that efficent with out the dot crit aa. When DoDH came out I had 700 aa at the time.
Shrug on the flip side foci is more common and I'll have all dot foci this time around.
Ahh we'll I'll be 65 in a week or so from there I'll see if Fire is empty and make my decision from there.

True this.. I had max DPS AA of the day.. before DoDH. And I wasn't always totally solo.. it was a good dou with another kiting class.
But out of combat regen.. burn all your mana, and get it all back quickly?

I fought changing games from EQ for over a year. I was bitter and lost friends that "abandoned" me. It sook SOE finally showing me that I was like a human in the Matrix to them to finally get me to try WoW.
I found that a lot of the reasons I was going to hate it (like the cartoony look), were actually pretty bitchin while you played it (I love the feel and the tounge in cheek lore). Not sure why anyone would hate a game where every class can solo to max level. And I found a guild that raids 9-Midight West Coast 2 days a week (on my EQ server all the real guilds raided at 6pm Eastern while I am at work).
But taste is personal, not going to launch into an essay, just saying it works for me (and I am having fun, daily.. > 2 years later).

Lol I wouldn't mind playing WoW but I can't get into it. I have like a level 64 warlock just bored me though.
EQ is the only game to truly hold on to me shrug. I even have an rl friend who has a great radiing guild but I just can't get into the game.
To this day there is nothing like playing EQ especially no class out there like the necromancer.
Ynai is 62 is at tables in PoF right now. the exp is incredible, especially with a lesson of devoted(over 40%aa per kill). They do resist snare a little more than i like, but thank heavans for FD.

Well I have my necro at 61 now and I did 3.5 aa the other night in 13minutes. Powerlveling the necro with my monk/cleric is making for a very quick way of getting a necro up in level again.
I figure at this rate I'll knock out 400 or 500 aa's before I max my levels again.
