  • Pet defensive & offensive parses

    I love /testcopy!

I have been (and will continue) parsing our pets, specifically using various focus level ranges to get a strong idea of offensive/defensive enhancements. Plenty of necro's don't care, but some do - so I'm going to try to make it available for anybody to look at. This is my first try at online spreadsheets, so I would greatly appreciate any feedback you folks could offer.

Currently, the spreadsheet is rated as public read-only to prevent contamination of parse data. Since my top-level focus is group, I will eventually open up the higher focus options for public edit/submission if we have any takers.

All parses are done with maximum pet AA's purchased, unless otherwise specified. This includes the unfocused base-line parses.

77 warrior pet for kicks, necro defensive parsing on page 2

    80 Rogue pet *read note*

    82 Warrior Pet

These are evolving spreadsheets; I'll be filling in data as I get it.

One last thing - all parses I do (unless specified otherwise) are done with a naked pet and zero buffs. There is currently no way to get infinite duration pet buffs in the arena, but I may ultimately find a way to get some hasted parses - and the parse will reflect the buffs.

If you are looking for parses of our swarm pets (aotd, sod, rob) see this thread under the AA section.

*note* rogue testing (backstab) requires the test dummies to be in a non-combat state to offer their backside. They otherwise will face the pet and beat it senseless. This means the test dummies do not dodge or otherwise try to evade combat - skewing the numbers. So the parses will reflect slightly (~6.5%) greater dps and accuracy than what you could possibly expect on a live server mob. Rogue defensive parses will be done at a later time.

What are you using to parse the log?

Incredible difference in NPC offensive dps comparing the two. I would be curious to see if the mod 2 cloak starting at the spire servent is the real cause of the decreased dps.

Interesting to see that the defensive stats of the pet block/parry/dodge are probably the same. Block looks like it might fall beyond the variance, but even at 10 hours the sample size isn't astronomical for a 0.21% difference. Been a while since I failed a stats course, so I am mostly guessing there

Ooh, if I could put in a request -- just so you don't get bored. Try putting a full set of mage armor (all the goodies so each pet item slot is full) on for each for an additional parse. I suppose i could do it as well, but having a single pet, player, parser etc as a control is a good thing.

I use a variety of parsers (4) as some provide certain info that others leave out. I also compare the data just to make sure everything is identical. Though I rely on Yalp for the vast majority of my parsing because of it's sheer speed in opening & managing a 16+Mb file.

      Yalp 12 (last pet-friendly version)
      GamParse
      EQ Companion
      Xalp

I certainly do plan an playing with gear eventually, though it is low priority as I'll also have to find a mage to hook me up. I'm not interested (yet!) in actually fighting on the test server just to get enough money to buy bazaar goodies.

lastly - the NPC DPS difference should be pretty much ignored. Sounds funky I know, but the pet gets pushed around and eventually always finds itself out of range from 1 or even 2 of the test dummies. So NPC DPS is of absolutely zero consequence in these parses...maybe I should just n/a those fields. I'm updating some of the spreadsheed fields with comment data to better reflect the important stuff.

I think you could drop that field fine as well. As it really is just an collection of what is shown by the other fields:

        Code:
        min/max Bash	302/302 302/302 254/254
        min/max Kick	303/345 303/345 255/297
        min/max Punch	352/1319	352/1319	304/1271

Gotcha, put averages in there as it's something I track on my personal spreadsheets. Average is pretty dang important as it is the revealing factor behind +ATK rating changes - that's how we finally got +STR added to our pet haste lines. No idea why I left it out of the online version. When i get around to doing gear & buff parses, you will see the averages shoot up nicely with +str and/or +atk.

Also computed pet procs. I have no idea what focus levels start bumping pet levels, so I left everything baseline at 75.

I am not an excel pro...by the greatest stretch of the imagination. Can anybody tell me how to "lock" column A on the viewing screen so when you scroll left/right to view other columns - column A remains visible on the far left?

As other parses are done if I can't figure that one out, I'll just have to go with multiple pages for enhanced parses that will include spells/gear/stats enhancements.

Put the cursor in column B row 1. Then window -> Freeze panes. This will lock column a in place so you don't lose it.

If you put the sursor in column B row 2, then you will not lose row 1 or column A when you scroll around.

Thanks bud! That is precisely what I had in mind.

And fyi - - got some rogue data trickling in now. And some self defensive parses for kicks - found to the right of the warrior parses.

                    Scrat,

                    Excellent so far, thanks.

I've heard it theorized that the mod2 cloak on Enhanced Minion3 has maxed mod2s (shielding, avoidance, accuracy, etc.). It'll be interesting to see if this carries out. I'll ask if someone I know who has that focus can do a similar parse.

Slowsil - 99 Ogre Shaman (box)

As I've edited-in on the opening post, I have started putting up some defensive parses for myself. The data is kind of slow trickling in and I continually add to it as I get it, but there are already some interesting things regarding what role AC plays, including shield AC...at least for low-AC (group) necros.

These are found on the warrior parse link, on the 2nd page. I'll eventually create a dedicated page for self parses to keep it clean & the tab comments accurate.

Lastly - I've been asked by some if I could post the actual parse results exported directly from yalp in html format - to add more credibility to the parses instead of relying purely on my crunched numbers. It's not something I had planned on doing (pichosting), but after I get done what I wanted to do - I'll give it a shot.

This is a test of parse pic displays...feedback on readability & size is appreciated. I'm trying to ensure the pic sizes does not force people to scroll right to read posts & view the entirety of the pic.

                          Update:

SoD data is slowly trickling in, starting with the 82 warrior pet.

I think after I've gotten this done I'll create a compare chart for side-by-side views between pet expansion levels.

It's pretty ironic. Our pets did not get any AC improvement from SoF to SoD. During SoF beta, Rytan said our base warrior had 875ac and improved with focus to 1764ac with the "top" focus (EM6). +5 levels and we get the same crappy AC charts as last expansion, so I imagine their performance increases (if any) will be purely mob atk v. pet level and nothing at all to do with getting better pets. A couple hundred extra HP doesn't mean a thing.
