  • Ancient Heroes:?

Being in school right now, I can't really get into the game enough to do all this research myself. A friend has told me that these new quests award armor that is in a system similar to PoR Praetorian gear (get currency for doing missions, spend it on gear you have unlocked--in this case by raiding). Apparently this armor is on the order of Eon gear (with slot 8s), but with 80% focus to 85?

If I understand correctly, there are 2 30 man raid missions and these unlock the gear to buy. The raid missions also award some of the new currency, but not much more than some of the group missions (difference being that the raid missions also drop the gear that you can buy)? The group missions award the currency but the gear that drops in them is lower tier (how does it compare to t5 SoD group?).

Raid level foci that just might be attainable by decently skilled groupers/casual raiders is basically a wet dream so I guess I have a few questions if anyone knows yet/is willing to answer. I hear that the raids are like monster missions in that you are lower level? Are they actually 30 man MMs? Are the group missions MMs? Does anyone have links to some of the new raid/group gear? Can the group missions be done with 2-3 skilled players (like most group missions)? Do the group mission reward amounts scale with frequency similar to TBS/some SoD missions? Anything that I might have left out...

I figure this might be helpful to others as well, I can compile the replies into an informative OP. I probably won't do so super quickly, it just depends on time

Yes this is true. You can find the MM over by the brewer near the main bank in PoK.

The theme for these is pretty simple: You take the place of a level 50 chr, and go do some old group content/raids. When you get in to the mission, hit your 'v' key to bring up the different spells/skills you can hotkey. I guess I might as well say this, because I have already told people this at least 5x in game: DO NOT REPLACE YOUR CURRENT HOTKEYS, SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT PAGE AND MAP YOUR HOTKEYS THERE...I mean seriously...

In the group content each person must pick a 'monster', and you can only have 1 of each monster. You basically just have to run around and kill each named mob you would expect to have to kill (IE: undead guk you have to kill everything from the Supplier to the Lord). So far I like the mage the best.. straight ownage. Currently I am an 85 necro with 660 AAs, and I have gotten 4 AAs per mission (I have only done the undead guk mission (2x))

In the raid content, you can have 3 of each class. We went and owned naggy and vox.. not hard when a tank has 4k hp

The rewards are very nice: Some augs are equal to the quest/raid augs, some of the gear is equal to T3 raid gear. As a necro who just came back from a long break, I am currently drooling over the 80% fire focii arms.

I have already gotten some useful info on these boards from you Vanlor, so I was more than happy to provide you with some info. Hope this helps.

Okay here is more on this.

The raids aren't limited to 30 anymore, at least on Test. We owned Naggy with 35, and it wasn't even close.

Necro and Mage are pretty dang powerful. Although i think the Necro is better than mage personally, can't beat snare, fd, tap, and an uber pet... and I couldn't find a pet heal on mage strangly.. but necro has one.

So the best group gear from vendor cost around 24 of the new currency (forgot to look if currency is tradeable). Group missions give 1 of the new currency for each mission.

The best raid gear costs 74 (I think, not in game at the moment. The highst cost things are augs btw, i think the foci 80 gear and some neat clicks are in the 43 point range) and raids give you 2 of the currency each, and have a lock out.

Gear is unlocked by doing a theme, each unlocks different gear.

      Naggy raid unlocks some gear
      Vox raid unlocks other gear
      SolB group unlocks other gear
Lguk live side group unlocks different gear
Lguk dead side group unlocks more different gear.

The group versions drop 1 piece of group loot (I don't think it is necessarily as good as T5 SoD, but it is dang close)
      The raids drop 2 pieces

Now you are thinking, "dang it will take forever to build up enough currency to buy the good stuff I unlock!" Well you can speed up the process by selling the stuff you don't need from the missions back to the vendor. The group stuff sells back for 5 of the currency. So do the 2 raids to unlock all the raid gear and get 4 currency, then box/solo 7 group missions and you can buy some of the nice slot 8 80% foci stuff (think it is 43 points).

I think there is no minimum to get into the instance (ie 3 people needed to start instance doesn't seem to apply).

Mercs aren't usable (they were briefly, but when a tank merc and a cleric merc can duo the raid mobs... it got fixed quickly).

These group missions are not overly difficult, unless you never spent time in SolB or Lguk (both sides) and only then because you have to find the named to kill them to update tasks.

        -Currency is NOT tradeable
-74 is the max anything can cost
-Pretty sure that mages got a pet heal, I am at work so cannot give you the exact name. Either way you cannot go wrong with necro or mage. Stay away from monks or rogues, you'll regreat your choice.
-Something to note: Only enchanters get haste.

I did the naggy and vox raids last night. It was a lot of fun actually. I'm hearing "necro own" on this but I played one and I dont' see how they say that. What I saw was a ton of resists. Even when standing toe to toe I got resisted more then I succeded. I do remember getting a ton of resists back in the day so i figure its working as intended. But I did notice are pet is pretty good dps, so maybe thats what folks are talking about. I supose I could go check out the eqlive boards but I pretty much hate going there.

By "toe to toe" you mean you were belly casting right? Unless they changed the events for the MMs vox/naggy should be belly casters I believe.

A friend said that he did one of the raids (I forget which) with a pickup group of only 21, so they can't be too difficult.

So I logged on for a few min. last night and found a friend had ran me through each of the group missions once (this is the reason why it is sometimes good to give your info to those you trust!) and he had actually soloed them. He said it took him 2-4 hours to do them but it was his first run through each so he was figuring out what to do as he went. I am not sure what class he played. It would be sweet to get these missions down to under an hour solo. Since you can, apparently, turn in the gear that drops in the mission for currency, that would probably increase our currency rate since we wouldn't have to roll against a group.

What is the lockout like for the group missions? I hear raid is 2 days?

Now you are thinking, "dang it will take forever to build up enough currency to buy the good stuff I unlock!" Well you can speed up the process by selling the stuff you don't need from the missions back to the vendor. The group stuff sells back for 5 of the currency. What you are saying is 2 raids + 7 missions can get you 43? How much is the gear worth that you can turn in?

Gear you can turn is worth 5 points
Group has a lock out... I forget exactly how long, but it is on the order of what Fenden gives on his tasks i think... 16 or 18 hours or some such.

So if you run all 3 group missions and get 3 loots.. You get 3 points + 15 for loots =18 a day. If you share loot the points will accumulate more slowly, but you won't have to spend hours in the MM, and can actually do something more productive since with more people this actually goes faster.

Last night I soloed LGuk Dead side mission as a necro took a while to figure out that for ghoul lord, charm is the way to go to clear the room.

My main concern is the time it will take to accumulate enough Brews (the currency used for these) to buy the 3ish augs that I want from this (prices around 74ish, 63ish, and 54ish iirc).

Are these raids and group tasks a limited time thing or are they permanent? I sure hope they are permanent, otherwise it looks like MM after MM after MM for me haha

Also I want to comment on the toe to toe.. I stood under Naggy and don't recall having a resist issue.

As to necros being uber, i think it is true.
At that level of play, a necro is a self contained group.
                      1) can tank, with pet or tap tanking and Banshee aura
                      2) can heal, with pet heal for pet and tap for self
                      3) can CC screaming terror, root, offtanking
                      4) can haste main tank, pet
                      5) can pull
                      6) Can charm in one of the missions
                      7) self invis both kinds
                      8) And as you mentioned pet is awesome tank at this level both for DPS and ability to take the punishment.

Oh another note, focus items (well at least Burning Affliction) items actually work, so go ahead and equip them when the drop off the named that you need to kill along the way.

just going to do a summary for anyone that doesn't know. i know about 50% of the info or so i am posting is said or more in this thread already but i wanted to group together information.

basically best way to do this is start duo/trio the 3 group missions now you want to be boxing these so that u can loot all of the chest drops to sell to the vendor. Chest drops sell for 5 + u get 1 per character for completion. So you can get 18 brews every 18 hours. Now most raid loot is 42 brews, but you need to have attended 1 naggy and vox raid to be able to buy everything u may want sine each boss unlocks different items. So as a group geared character you mill be able to buy 1 raid loot in the 42 cost bracket which is a good portion of the non augs every 2days so please if your an undergeared character do as many as u can so top tier raid guilds can get better apps come underfoot.

These missions are also supposed to be here forever.

You can also sell back raid loot at 15-20 brews per item

raids are limited to 42 people and currently have many bugs with adding people once they start and people leaving the task can all cause issues.

                        group mission lockout 18 hours
                        raid missions 3 days

My opinion as a mostly tower geared character.
The primary with circle of mana is fairly awesome if u haven't been able to secure a tower event 1 primary for eqplayer padding or don't have a circle of mana 1 item. While the augs are about the only other thing a high end raider may be interested in at all. The damage clicks are all to low to even matter in my opinion, the reflect click may be worth aquiring if u don't have 1. the new tash orb click didn't see it already linked here so check link at end of paragraph. Thats about the only 3 items + augs i can really see myself caring about as a almost fully tower geared character, i imagine if your guild is mad unlucky about getting a particular slot like we are with caster primaries u may wish to get some random slot also.

Just in response to earlier, yes I was belly casting.aka toe to toe. I still got resisted on naggy and vox a lot. Less on Vox, probably due to the lower fire resists.

I will say we are a well rounded class, there is no arguments there but that is hardly call for "ownage". Its not like we can solo Vox or Naggy.
